Looks like that card will suffer from resampling CD audio to 48KHz, the same problem with the Audigy2.

Would this card be preferrable to the onboard sound on an P5W64 Pro which has an ADI 1988B 8-channel HD onboard sound? Speakers are not great atm, but planning on buying a set of Logitech Z5400's soon (Christmas).

Almost all sound cards easily blow onboard sound away. This card will most likely be king of the hill in the pc audio card department for a bit, I read that guru3d will have a review of it in the comings weeks, the cards are now arriving at door steps. A good quality speaker with digital inputs will be great. I am pretty sure the z5400s have that.

I picked up the Bluegears B-enspirer which has the exact c-media 8788 oxygen chip about a week back from Newegg and this card just rocks. Best of all, its half the price of the x-meridian. I currently have it installed on my HTPC with my Pioneer THX receiver and using DTS Interactive. The sound quality and clarity is just amazing.

Nice, the bluegears is a bit different from the x-meridian which changed format from the original x-purity base card. Why not give a review on the card?

So far the card has shipped and has arrived at a few homes, australia and the USA, even the UK. You can check it out on guru3d forums. Everyone who has one is saying it blows their older or other soundcards away, even if they were using x-fi fatalities and the like.

Looks like a great card but I wish they would make a front drive bay accessory like the fatality :(

Teratism

Yeah a few people would have liked that, they made an extension card to hook up extra audio equipment though. I am guessing a front bay accessory would have really increased the price and drove down possible buyers so they decided not to go that way.
