for an overclocked barton system?
1) http://www.swiftnets.com/products/mcx462plusT.asp w/80mm fan (either SF2 or tornado)
2) http://www.thermaltake.com/products/subzero/subzero4g.htm
3) SLK-900 w/92mm pana high, or 92mm tornado with fan controller
4) http://www.thermaltake.com/products/heatsink/v11plus.htm w/ http://www.thermaltake.com/products/heatsink/ductingMod.htm
I really think that ducting mod is cool and should work as said. So I'm also considering using it on another HS that has holes to screw a fan down (like the swiftech 465), hell maybe even on the swiftech w/TEC.

For least hassle and best performance, I would say the SLK-900 with 92mm Tornado.

I really wanna give that duct a try...doesn't it seem like it makes sense the way they describe it?

anyone know which hsf would be best for this duct? It would have to be a hs with fan holes so the thermalrights are out of it.
duct made by thermaltake so wouldnt a thermaltake cooler be best for it ?

unless the duct blows air out of the case, or draws air in from the case it isn't going to help very much.
either keep your SLK800, or pick up a SLK900.
the swiftech is cool, but you might run into problems with the TEC.

did you even look at the link and read what it does http://www.thermaltake.com/products/heatsink/ductingMod.htm? Looks to me it will help by what it's doing. What it is doing it providing equal air over the entire hs and taking away the back pressure.

There's always a big difference between what TT says and how there product performs. If you want to try a duct, better do it yourself and make it hgo out of the case, now that would help!
The swiftech is nice but rather expensive and the peltier is too much of a hassle

#ball3r, i saw the link. if you want to do the same thing, put something between the HSF and the fan, you'll get the same results. i've seen people take an old 80MM fan and cut the center out and use it.
anyway, the Tt thing isn't even a "duct" since it doesn't draw air in/out of the case.

LO FREAKIN L. That right there folks is a classic line. Also, I agree try the duct yourself. I tried one on my system for a bit but didn't get any serious performance gains. I did it with my older heatsink, so I might try it now and see how it goes but definitely try it yourself. If you have a SLK-800 and you are looking for some performance gains, lap that sucka. Don't know if you already did that but if you really want the best try that. That sink still rules, and you might get angry after you drop $50 on a SLK-900 and 92mm fan to see you are only getting a 2C or so difference.
