Creative came out with new drivers for their Audigy2 and Audigy4 series sound cards. Normally, this wouldn't be news, but considering the last time they updated the drivers was Jan 24... you get the picture.

This year. Last year would be amazingly poor support. Right now it's just mildly poor.

they really ought to get some newer ones out for x-fi...one that makes mics work CORRECTLY when plugged into the front panel....

Is it placebo or are there changes made to the sound? Sounds ehhh....deeper, more 3D with cmss and cleaner. Placebo or not I’m happy with it.

...10min later...

just listened to some binaural recordings and the cmss doesn’t make any difference on/off. That’s good.

I like the sound quality of these, adds more surround and 3D sound. Well I've been using the CD drivers b4 too but thought many of the updated ones sucked but this one I like, also finally a standalone driver, if they only could do that with all the rest of the components as well such as Audio HQ! :(

(BTW it's for all Audigy cards except LS and SE, but also Audigy 1 that I have, hinted at topic title being slightly missleading :))

I've been using the X-Fi drivers on my Audigy 1 MP3+ since they came out. Guess what they suffer from some of the popping issues of the X-Fi cards. Their argument the popping is a nForce problem is bogus. If Realtek would sell a stand alone card with their surround sound capabilites I'd pick it up. Realtek has the best driver support I've seen in a long time.
