i'm wondering if it is as good as having a real 9700 or 9800 pro?

If the mod works properly then yes it is very good but not quite as good as overclocking a 9700non-pro or a 9700pro...:)

Good value for money if it works...
I have also heard very good things about the overclocking potential of the new 9600pro's .....just a thought...:)

It worked flawlessly on my brothers saphire 9500np. The core clocks better than my 9700p but the memory used on the card is not as fast. I can only clock it to 300 stable with no extra cooling. Its the best deal ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! just makesure u get the older pcb that has the mem chips in a L arangement and not in line like the pro. Basically get the one that looks like a 9700p
