Hello again guys..

My friend just bougt some noname DDR ram with Winbond BH5 chips on.. But they wont overclock at all.. Starting out with 166Mhz and the machine is dead not matter what timing and voltage.. Max FSB is 150 with these RAM.

The motherboard is a Ep-8rda+

at little imformation about them:
On the first linie on the modules: Winbond
second line: 303we
third line: w942508bh-5

Now correct if i am wrong but isnĀ“t this the same modules as Corsair 433ddr ?

Anyone have an idea?

well, the ram is only as good as the PCB it is mounted on. so even if it's got good chips, a crappy PCB could limit the overclock.

of course i could be completly wrong.

Felix88 you're right, your oc can depend on a lot of factor. Cosair is using handpicked chip and some high quality pcb and that does make the difference (in oc and in price). You can cut the price by buying low quality chip and bad pcb. That's why in memory i never buy noname

SO you guys think that could be the problem.. Could the PCB really be that bad?

Well iĀ“ll be checking on him a little bit later..
First he said that it was some NOname but iĀ“ll have to ask him again..

edited: just checked with him.. They dont have any name.. besides the imformation from above..

Maybe you should take a pic
Have you tried other stick of ram in his comp? You should try to oc one stick that you know that it can go higher and so you'll know if it does come from the ram or not.

well he had 2 sticks of hyperX 400 and there were overclocking fine.. So I guess that just leaves him with some bad PCB..
Btw. I think he is planning to sell them again so it actually doesnĀ“t matter.. but thx anyway:toast:

You're welcome
If it's not the pcb then it would be the chip (maybe some low grade bh5) but we'll never know

Check for how much layers the pcb uses..it's usually printed\attached by sticker.

most of generic moduls are doing fine.
