Yes, Vista will support Live through Live Messenger, that's what I read long ago. And you can use the X360 controllers in Xp already:

About the game branding, I've already seen a pair of videos in gametrailers showing a "Games for Windows" banner, with FlightSimX, Alan Wake, LegoStarWars2, AoE, etc.

And I didn't know the performance rating was 1-5.9. I thought it was 1-10. My comp has a 4.5 (165@2700, 1Gb 245 2-2-2-5, X1900XTX) in RC1

im very happy myself with all the things coming to windows to make it a gaming platform too. now i wish it would do a media center-esque frontend or dashboard similar to how xbox360 has a froont end loader etc for choosing games, working with memory, xbox live etc.

and what would really make a big difference is that when you say, i wanna play games, your windows machine becomes a gaming machine. ie: you click this prominent button in your start menu, then the media center thing starts, and at the same time, lots of regular vanilla computer processes shut down, and the system becomes a focused gaming machine.

they have a long ways to go for vista to be game ready.. performance already sucks balls cuz the os itself the largest overbloated pig i have ever seen.
Ms seriously needs to rethink their take on what an OS is.
its friggin insane how overbloated and retarded this OS is.
i wont even consider Vista as a 24/7 OS until nlite can strip all the b.s. out of it.

I found Vista to be pretty snappy actually. Some features are a bit more hidden than I'd prefer, but that's something I can work on with some useful pointers :)

But performance was nice, and the install was painless and smooth.

Versions do vary though Lestat - but RC1 is nice. And having 4gb of ram is useful finally :)

Finally us PC'ers can put a smackdown on the console retards. If it's a FPS shooter they'll find out real fast a mouse and keyboard is superior to a controller.

Well the truth is with my comp Vista runs really good, but for gaming now I really need 2gb of RAM. Vista already takes 526Mb with my current config, and when playing Company of Heroes it lags big time. And loading times are more than 5 minutes each map :stick:

Ahh why is it taking so much, wheres RD600? I don't want to buy another gb of DDR1

Not on topic, but WinRAR runs much faster in XP :stick:, and, someone has got the nforce4 RAID working in Vista? I can't install in my raptors, and I've used both pre-releases in the beta site from nvidia.com
