That dual socket MSI K8N Master2-FAR that came to me from Smurfy is finally up and running on WCG. He was right, one cpu is dead but one Opty dual core at 2211mgz should help some.
All thats in it for now is 2-256mb PC2100's but that should change this week.
I ran into a guy that I sold xeons to a couple years ago and he made me a HUGE deal on 6-512mb ECC REG DDR400's and I couldn't say no.:D
Another guy with some connections  is trying to get me another 266 so this one won't be lonesome.

oh, when it came time to give a name to the machine, I thought of one that is fitting:
Smurfy's Revenge:D
Thanks pal, wish you were still with us.:toast:

Well, It was running. Went in to the bios, made a few small changes and POOF..no boot..Change it all back to the defaults, and now it gets to Verifying DMI pool data in the post and then it gives me a mac address and then it goes looking for DHCP?
Who the hell designed these bios's? SadistsRUS?:(
Excuse me while I get out the big hammer and go talk to this thing!

Yes, had to do a recovery in windows. This board is flaky as all hell.
Breathe in it's direction and it gets antsy.

My ram came today. 6 sticks of ECC REG DDR400. Never had a machine with 3 gig of ram before, 2 yes but not 3!:D
Machine is very flaky, have 2 splats in device manager:
on PCI Memory controller and on SM BUSS controller
Shut it down and you need to do a windows repair using recovery console.
I admit to being a AMD n00b but this thing is a very funky system.
Emailed MSI to see if they have any answers cause I sure don't!
It's crunching and benched using BOINC 5.4.11 at 2114/3989
Now to go and see if thats better than my DX3600:p:

:welcome: to the world of AMD.... You have been spoiled with your non blue screen non ondie mem controller systems:rofl: Just install those chipset drivers and this should help most of your probs. If not then I bet you cant throw that mobo like a frisby all the way to Arizona.... I dare you... I dare you....

Splats are gone. New benches: 2112/3948...a little lower than before, but at least the damned thing can be booted now without doing a recovery!

No, It was not 40 years ago so get your facts correct!
It was 1968...38 years ago!

It seems that your mainboard is scared. Dont say to it what it will have to do.

well blimey, i may be here a little late but great thats its all up and running.

I actually found the board to be fairly reliable and a great overclocker, the fact youc an overclock in the BIOS was great, not sure why your having trouble, it may well be multiple sticks of ram, i cant say iv ever had much success with AMD and more than two sticks of dual sided ram.

Thanks for the name, bout time i get some revenge for something even if i dont know for what :P.

Once again i apoligise for turning up here late, i dont read these forums much currently.
