I have noticed that my rig running linux (ubuntu) does the wu's faster than the same rig on windows but claims less points. for example a standard aids wu claims 80 boinc points but this rig only claims 40 points. and only gets like 30 per aids wu!!!! seeing this makes me somewhat hesitant because if i change most of my other rigs over it would result in a drop in points. however i would still do it because more science can be done. has anyone eles noticed this with linux? and mabye some people should swicth to linux because of the less time to do wu so more science.

The standard linux boinc client has always been known to bench worse than its windows counter part, a sad fact of life. Having a quorum helps somewhat, but on average it'll probably score less :(

BOINC RM 09/27/2006 22:37:26 0:009:07:50:23 5,832 10
BOINC localhost 09/27/2006 05:05:14 0:000:11:51:22 627 5
BOINC josh 09/24/2006 19:31:28 0:010:10:33:44 14,333 31

me too. my p3 machine (RM) get an average of 583.2 points per WU
the p4 machine, windows (josh) gets 462.4 points per WU
and my p4 on linux (localhost  ) gets only 125.4 per WU.

this is annoying, as I am hoping to use linux as my main operating system. oh well. i suppose it is the number of WUs that I care about really.

Is this due to low claims or are you getting less for them ? And, are you getting higher or lower benchmark scores ?

havent checked the benches but i am denfiently geting less points!!!!!! but the number of wu's is greater because it takes less time. ambye someone should email wcg asking to use the opties for lunix because of the lower points?
