Just fired up the vapo for first time in ~ 4 months and it just doesnt wanna have any of it!
The compressor kicks in for ~ 5-10 secs and then stops. Rear fan spins down etc too.
The LED display shows scrolling "-". Had this issue before and it was due to lack of power, but the PSU used to run it (420w OCZ) powered it fine. Tested on 520w powerstream too and still no dice. The head does seem to get slightly cold but thats about it.
At one point had a "E021" error on the LED display, but not seen that since.
Tried overvolting PSU to max (13.5v) and dropping back to 12 as well as in-between all without luck.

Any ideas at all guys?

Cheers

Damn things running fine now... Let it cycle through a few times and its now pulling down on.
FWIW upped the 12v line to 12.3 from 12.0. Dont think this solved the problem tho

Could it possibly be something to do with the wiring in the back of the compressor? Maybe a loose connection or something?

Checked the connectors and they all seem ok.
It's still not pulling down correctly though dammit :(

do you have any 5v load on the PSU? Most power supply's don't perform too well without at least some load on the other rails. try hooking up a couple of old hard disks to it or some other load of a few amps

Perhaps an obstruction blocked the cap tube, after a few times it may have cleared...?

Tom

Possibly yea, ran for a good 45 mins last night and all was ok (bar a little frosting back to the compressor, will see how it runs under load in a bit)
Fired it up again thismorning and it was pulling down fine, so looks like whatever the issues yesterday were are gone!

This is very possible, especially if stored standing up on end or on its side, where a portion of the oil can fill the liquid line. and since you may have mostly oil at first and the viscosity of oil is much higher than refrigerant its slow to move Thru the cap tube. . It may take many minutes or even several cycles to push all the oil back to the compressor before normal refrigerant/oil mix begins to flow again. .. less than 1% of oil is normally in circulation with the refrigerant.

Always move and store refrigeration equipment in the upright position.

Cheers guys, and thanks Tom - hoping for some 01 results later tonight (damn uni work to get sorted first tho)
