Hi there,

Simple question what is better (lower temps), a single loop like this

d5 > d5 > 120.2 > 120.2 > apogee > mcw60 > mcw30 > res

or

loop 1

d5 > 120.2 > apogee > res

loop 2

d5 > 120.2 > mcw60 > mcw30 > res

I would have though the dual loop idea would have been better, or maybe single loop way if it was arranged better?

the rads and pumps will be sitting on top the pc case in a custom box (external).

TIA,

ditto.... dual loop

PS you've got a hell of a pc man... what did it all cost, not counting the XPS M1710... about 5000 quid? :slobber:

Why is that ? The Apogee Waterblock suck that much ? Dont tell me that iu will again have to buy some more for my WC set-up LOL!

The AquaXtreme MP-05 Pro is about 3*C cooler under load than the Apogee, while being $7 more. You can get one @ www.cooltechnica.com (out of stock atm) or www.petrastechshop.com (out of stock atm). I'm sure there are other places though.

Thanks, ill have a look next time i have to redo my WC set-up. (soon cuzz im adding a MCW60 along whit an X1900 Crossfire Card...) What about the Storm ? I eard great things about it ?

was directed at the OP as he has put that much $$$ into his system, might was well put some serious $$$ into keeping it cool.

need i mention that the G5 is only 1C cooler than the G4 (swiftech)

But still apogee is crap.

Swiftech storm or MP-05 LE at least

yeah G5 for the CPU, two mcw60s for the GPUs and two Laing DDC Ultra 18W pumps (with Petra's top of course) and you're good :toast:
Man that's one hell of a system! :woot:

If you build it correctly, then you can actually get almost the same temps with the single loop, as with a dual loop.
I.e: Res --> Pump --> CPU --> NB --> radi --> pump --> GFX --> GFX --> radi --> res.
Or with such powerfull pumps, then go for parallel system, and then use the hose diameter to control whitch blocks to get more or less water. (I.e 3/8" for CPU and GFX, 3/4" for pumps, rad and res, and 1/4" or 1/8" to NB and HDD), this will give you a genreally better temp, but also a nightmare of mannaging the hoses and cabels.

So if you doesn't have the currage to make a parallel setup, then the dual loop way is the most efficient.

If I were to do a single loop, I'd do similar to what Steensen said, but I'd put the radiators immediately preceding the blocks, no sense in heating up the water before it hits the blocks.

The dual loops will be easier to allow for swapping hardware/blocks, however....and generally easier to maintain....and gets a few more style points...so yeah, dual loops are better :p:

I also prefer the dual loop setup.
Apogee isn't all that crappy block. More of a bad reputation... ;)

Bar the laptop, soundcard, speakers and one hard drive it was all given for free :)

And im poor so the apogee will have to do, im sure it isnt that bad anyway, right?

Im gonna do the dual loop as its a landslide vote.

Thanks everyone!

Hell if you got all that free then you definately need to buy a G5 :D

meep! dual D5s? D5s have a fairly large heatdump, and considering some alternatives, ie DDC2+ultrauber editions (pick your moniker; any 18w DDC with a modded top) or 50zs at least would be preferable IMO.
4x120 of raddage... now that is excess

That Much Crap ? it can't be...Nvm ill consider that Storm or MP-05 next time i re-do my WC set-up.

Also why do you Guys have 2 pump ? does it really help temps ? Im kinda getting Confused here about 2 pump for a Single loop ? eh ? and why is the top of a DDC affect so much the flow ?

Too many questions, not a single answer. Time to read... ;)
