Actually I heard something that Microsoft was trying to buy the license for it so it would only be made for the Xbox. I'll try to find the link, or maybe it was on another forum. Anyone else heard a rumor like this?

Here's the latest news (http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/11.05/doom.html?pg=1&topic=&topic_set=) I've been able to dig up on it. Microsoft isn't trying to buy it for exclusive rights to the xbox only, just trying to postpone its release date till they can update the xbox to be compatable with it.

I was told that not many graphic cards can run this game...

I do not have a radion 9700/9800 pro but I think my card is decent

128 DDR GeForce 4Ti 4400

will this game run on that card?

Eh, almost makes me want to give up on games. You gotta have a top of the line card to run them anymore.

I had the leaked alpha also. Remember folks, it was just an alpha. Most alphas don't even run, let alone actually let you play. In the final release we will be able to dink around with the graphic settings. If you do buy the game, you will want the PC version. John Carmack came out and said that they would have to turn down the detail to make it playable on the XBox.

Dom 3 will apparently run as long as you have geForce 3 or higher, obcvviosuly is a directx 9 game sosm 9x00 series are gonna be needed, Xbox wont play it without detail being turned signigficantly down 733Mhz processsor not up to it, neither is the graphics chipset

None the less, the game will still look incredible on either system. If might be tough playing with a controller though. :D I don't think I will buy the game though. The alpha I was playing scared the heck out of me, but I guess that was the point. Also, the game is xtremely bloody. The bodies don't blow apart, yet anyways, but the blood affects eat your performance hardcore becuase there is so much of it on the screen.

The other day my friend sent me a pack of like 40 screenshots I'd never seen before. I don't know where they came from or how long they've been on the web, but I put them up on my site.

http://www.psychotix.com/doom3/doom3.html

Be warned though, they're all 1600x1200 res and range from 500KB - 2 MB in size.

Everyone of these pictures are from the leaked alpha that I have. Most of them seem to be from the unfinished intro that was included in the alpha-version and others are just in-game shots of the models. You can see how impressive the models are, but you can also tell that they aren't done with the textures yet because they are not as detailed as they will be later.

Coming back to bowman1964, one thing that really helps with running the game faster is turning off these shadows. They will eat tons of you gpu's power.
