View Full Version : While pissing on Dagorath...

While enjoying a piss on Dagorath as I passed him in points, I noticed his last result was 150+ hours ago. I guess he picked up his toys and went home. Maybe it wasn't "all about the science" for him after all.

Now guys, it's not nice to pick on the mentally and emotionally challenged.
The poor guy just isn't used to seeing Ferraris in his neighborhood of Model T's and got a little upset.:D
Now that I've said that, all I want to see is this team come together into the biggest single computational assembly ever seen.
I mean so much computational power that the DC boards will be talking about it for years.
WCG will be calling asking for a slowdown so their servers can catch up!
You know what I mean, the XS way of doing things!:D

too expensive and not cost efficient compared to the kentsfields.
the issues are the cost of the FBDimms versus DDR2 and the fact that there isn't a clovertown motherboard that can be OC'd..
Listem to me, like I could actually afford any of these!

Now since I was born in 1952 and I think the last time my backside saw 3 cornered shorts was maybe 1954, this guy must've helped build Univac.
Maybe thats why his RAC is so low, he may still be using Univac!:ROTF:

Well, I am not a believer in standard computer-jargon type "racks". To me those are more like stacks. What I'd like is two serlv-oriented racks of Kentfields. Three shelves tall, one rack on each side of my 22' long living room.

Hey, we all can dream, no? :)

So its OK for him to alter things affecting his BOINC benchmark score to whatever he fancies, but running an optimised client (which gives values much closer to SANDRA benchmark values, which are generally recognised as being correct) is cheating, way to go dagorath you chump!

Well, I have to admit that after I saw my sub-40 point claims when I uninstalled BOINC, I reinstalled the optis straight away... SUB 40 on a D820 @ 3.4 Ghz :slap: :slap: :slap: :slap:

Please, please, please for Movieman and an old teddie do it virgin.

That would be more monumentous than any other #1.

Teddies are still using 5.5 well some of us and it`s less than 1/10 that get a bigger amount of points...so nothing much to show.

I have stated in Rosetta that XS have banned it and are taking #1 by the book, please don`t let me down. I know you can do it.:toast:

I believe in actual wording, you may be correct, but in the spirit of the competition it was URGED???

I can ignore the idiots but many can not, so if we are "clean" there will be no excuse for someone to complain.

my two cents:D

rob725
09-23-2006, 12:54 PM
Also, my understanding of purpose of the benchmark is an attempt calibrate different machines so that they claim roughly the same amount for a given wu. The idea being that the faster machines will score more points by virtue of processing more wu's. If that is the intent, then at least in my case, it is more accurate now, as much as it pains me to "cripple" my c2d's.

Boinc projects are terrible for those who have powerful processors... Im hoping it gets better someday.

But it's also about returned results, and that is very much influenced by a fast CPU.

And my 2 cents also. Thanks Mike. Listen guys: It's real important for a lot of reasons to do this "clean" and the reality is that using an opty in this app gets you damned little so there's really no reason to.
Think on it this way:
WHEN we pass EasyNews, do you want to hear crap about opty's or do you want to hear " Holy Crap, look at the power from XS
I know what I want. I can't tell anyone to do anything, I can only tell you how I see it and what I will do.
Think on it.

I want the benchmark system fixed.
I SO agree with you. I hate BOINC BUT it's what these people use and it does what they need. I talked with Kevin from WCG and while using SSE opties isn't a priority with them as the current system does what they need, IBM is looking at this as they do understand that there is a vast untapped amount of power being wasted. Will this happen this year? I doubt it, but at least it's a start. IBM is steady and not daring, but they have a hell of a R+D dept.
Lets hope there's a young guy in there to bring some passion into the dept.
In the meantime, accept what we can't change and work at what we can.
Bringing new people and machines to this.

Help required.

In Rosetta forum, we need the green apostrophe removed from MattDavis` thread " A Plan for the Forum"...His initial post has a +10 which gives it significance. I would be greatly pleased to see it zero`ed, I would be highly amused if it went to -10 or more.

Could it be that WCG has multiple servers across the world and that a few of them are still down? Would make sense with such a large project :)
