Hello

I have read the guides on how to v.mod the A7NX8 and feel about ready to give it a go.

I use a VapoChill from Asetek to cool my CPU, so its sitting at minus 15 degrees celcius at full load.

I know I will need to cool my northbridge.. Can I find a sufficient solution with aircooling, and how would you reccomend I do it?

Are there other hotspots I should be giving added cooling if I v. mod?

Referrals to guides would be much appreciated.

My system:

A7NX8 mobo
9700PRO, Hercules
512 mb ram, think PC2700
80gb HD
TerraTec TV card

a lot of people use the old celeron hsf's, the stoc kintel ones , i htink its either brainstorm or major slaughter as one of the pople that do the so if youy ask them they can tell you what they think of it, cant remember which one of em it is, SB will need coolnig at high FSBs, basically, people usually active cool NB and SB and passively cool the MOSFETS

oh, and Welcome to the Xtreme weblife! :D

These are mosfet's, they are voltagte regulators so contro lthe voltage going through the board

just done google image search to get the image

I also have my A7N8X totally modded, thx to the guide from maximumoc.com :)

I placed a high rpm 40mm fan on the standard HS on the NB.

The mosfets are also cooled by some small heatsinks and the SB is passive cooled.

This is how it looks like, but without the HS on the SB.

Welcome to the Xtreme MacCleod!

Weblife, the picture hes posted shows perfectly good cooling, those Tt sinks are excellent for mosfets, just use a hacksaw to cut em into shape ;)

Thx CCW :)

I just took a few pics, but now with a heatsink on the sb.

Check it out.

Here you can see the whole board.

nice, like the SB HS, what TwinMOS is that out of interest?
those Tt sinks are pretty good, im gonan get the new copper ones cos i need more of em :D used my last one on a graphics card a lil while ago, £4 a pack for copper ones :)

The TwinMOS I use is PC 2700 with Mtec chips.
The max I achieved with them is 225 so far, but that wasn't very stable...but stable enough to run some SiSoft benches and stuff ;)

Some memory goodness @ 225 :)

The SB HS is a piece of a Slot 1 HS from my earlier PIII 450 ;)

I know they aren't, but my other memory, TwinMOS PC3200 with TwinMOS chips, was even worse...I couldn't get the system stable at 200 FSB :(

Now I'm goin' to try to get that rig stable at 225 FSB :)

cool go for it! the WinBOND chips are the better ones, hope you get 225 stable :D
