I'm wondering, is it worth the money (and effort) to swap my Volcano 7+ for a Volcano 11?
A Volcano 7+ is rated up to XP2600+ while the Volcano 11 is rated up to XP 3400+.
Any thoughts? ;)

i'd say that the volcano 11 is the better of these but i dont think it's worth the money. where i come from it costs app $35 but the alpha pal 8045 isnt a lot more expensive

ok, thats a good cooler. you want the all copper version though, it'll cool better even if the fan is not on the highest speed. it is alittle pricey though. a vantec aeroflow is better then the V11 in 2 ways, first; it runs a 5600 RPMs and is still quiet then a V11 or V9 at full speed, second; you can get one on eBay for $20-30, the V11 costs somewhere in the mid-30s to 40s range. The aeroflow cools way better, I've had a V9, got rid of it a week later, I could not take the noise and the temps were a little high.

the V11 is all copper, and from the pics i've seen, it's just a V7+ with an 80mm fan.

i don't know about the aeroflow, i've never used one, but the PAL8045 is a nice cooler if your motherboard has the 4 mounting holes.

Yeah, that's what i like about this cooler, i think an all copper cooler will give the best cooling performance.
The fan on my current V7+ is too loud @ high so i want to know wheter the fan on the V11 is noisy as well.
Because it is a little larger it can do with lower rpm so be more quite than the V7+
Also, the V11 has 40 fins where the 7+ has to make do w/ 34 so it must be slightly bigger i guess.
Over here the V11 sets me back a €35,- same price as the V7+ against €65,- for the SLK800 wich is the top performer.
Still not sure what to do....

If you want an all copper cooler, get a Zalman all copper cooler or a Thermalright all copper heatsink. You would have to buy a fan for it though.

the SLK900 doesn't fit on all motherboards, but it is one of the best.

ThermalRight coolers are head and shoulders above ThermalTake coolers. The V11 might be alright, but it doesn't compare to a SLK-800. If you are looking for a kick ass upgrade, go with the SLK-800. If you can afford it and are a serious OC'er you might wanna check out the SLK-900. This is the best cooling today as far as air is concerned. :)

edit: Doh, just caught your post about the prices. The V11 is alright like I said before, but at that much less it looks even better. I guess I might go with the V11 then, it should drop your temps a bit and definitely lower the volume. :)
