when I came to this thread I was hoping to find some usefull help.

then I saw this picture:

http://www.gskillusa.com/motherboard/p5b/04.jpg

well, its ok that the most part of this forum users doesn't know how to set memory subtimings, but wouldn't expect that from a gskill technician. :slapass:

the sub timings for the gskill HZ 6400 should be:

3
10
5
13

hope this information helps. ;)

they are not timings that i got by myself. they're really the sticks default value.

Cumps,

Remo

I have DRAM TRFC at 25, and it has been Orthos stable for 13hours. Should I revert to 42 as per your recommendations? Or leave it?

for Micron chip Trfc is ok to set under 42, but other IC might not even boot with TRFC 41

I'm putting together a system based on P5B. I have a Core 2 E6600 installed and a set of F2-6400CL5D-2GBNQ DDR2 800 5-5-5-15. So far I have been unable to make it run full speed at 800MHz. If I do so, either on BIOS auto settings or following the directions from this thread with manual settings, the system becomes extremely unstable, but if I lower the speed to 667MHz, so far I haven't seen a single issue, but, of course, it's a waste... What am I doing wrong? Is it possible that the memory I got is bad?
Thanks!

have you try to increase voltage a bit to 1.9v or 1.95v?

also do this on subtiming
4-42-3-11-7-13

got some fine g.skill 8500Hz on my p5b deluxe but the only annoing thing is it will only boot at the 4-4-4-5-4-35-3-10-5-12 timing's or something near that.

stock spd 4-4-4-5-5-42-10-10-10-10 or in safemode of the board won't boot.
somebody got an answer for that? its realy anoing when it comes to overcklocking.
when it runs on the above settings it can run 600 4-4-4-5 stable.

10-10-10-10 is actually P5B's own setting, not SPD rated.
the standard is 3-11-7-13 for all DDR2 800 ram.
i recommend for tigher timing is 4-9-5-9, but don't quote me

I'm sorry for taking so long to reply. My system was in pieces and I had no way to try the memory settings you were suggesting.
Now the system is finally back together and I hope it will stay this way.

I looked at the voltage settings and I did try 1.9V last time when it was very unstable.
The next setting would be 2.0V, which for some reason is shown by the BIOS with highlight and red text.
I decided to give it a try with the same voltage (1.9V) and use the timing you suggested and so far I had no problem at all, which is promising.
The system booted as usual, I ran a few benchmarks, played a game, all seems to be just fine this time :toast:.
One confusing thing for me at the moment is how the memory settings are reported by CPU-Z utility.
When I go to Memory tab, it shows Frequency of 400 MHz. Is this normal?

Yes, that's normal. 400MHz x 2 (DDR2=double data rate) = 800MHz.

Thanks for the boost of confidence, Buffalo2102.
I thought it should be something like that, but not being an expert in the field left me wondering...

Does anyone know the max stable overclock on a 2.1v (ram/memory) with a p5b?

F2-6400CL4-1GBHK on P5B Deluxe, 1219 BIOS . Speedstep ON.
Voltages are either auto. 2.15V mem and 1.375V CPU (Vdroop)
485 (970) 1:1
4-4-3-5-5-35-10-10-10-11
cool temps and safe hardware are the important factor.

Any suggestions ?
What is Static Read Control ? (auto now)

I ran 24/7: 4x1GB 6400 HZ (2:3) at 538MHz 5-5-5-15 at 2.1v
e6600 at 3.24Ghz
vNB: 1.55
