I've found on the net a antec SX1040 SOHO File for $42. Is that a good deal? I have the antec SX830 and i was thinking by buying this one and giving my old one to my bro. But first i wanted to know what were the difference between the two case, in matter of space and airflow.

found this:

Antec SX1040 case ...

ANTEC SX8x0 AND SX10x0 SERIES:

I've been eying these cases for awhile. Both the SX840 and SX1040
(which are the same as the SX830 and SX1030, respectively, except
for the power supply):

THE POWER TO PLEASE ... AMD APPROVED ...

Both come with a 400W P.S, the Antec PP-412X (the SX830 and SX1030
come with a 300W P.S., the PP-303X). The PP-412X is a newer version
of the PP-403X, now with Pentium 4 support (which requires an extra
connector on Intel's mainboards I believe -- the PP-403X may work
though). Both provide a whopping 245W on 3.3+5V and 380W on
3.3+5+12V:

This puts the PP-403X/412X on AMD's Recommended list for any Athlon
in existence, tied with the Sinotech 420W P.S. (245W on 3.3+5V),
second only to the PC Power and Cooling 425W (300W 3.3+5V) so even a
fully loaded mainboard with dual-CPUs, lots of memory and I/O cards
shouldn't drain this bad boy:

DIFFERENCES ...

The main difference two the SX8x0 and SX10x0 series are drive bays.
The SX8x0 has (3) 5.25" external, (2) 3.5" external (one being a
"slot" for a FD) and (3) 3.5" internal bays. Directly below them
are plastic cages for (2) 80mm intake fans (not included, although
(2) 80mm outtake at the back fans _are_included_ on both the SX8x)
and the SX10x0). The SX10x0 adds another 5.25" external (for 4
total), and replaces the fixed (3) 3.5 internal bay with a
modular/removable (4) 3.5 internal drive cage with an 80mm directly
in-front (which leaves only 80mm intake option below it).

Being that I plan to have 2-3 7200rpm HDs, I chose the SX1040 over
the SX840. I'm sure the latter would be fine for most people and
saves you a good ~$20.

and this:

For my money, no one manufactures a better designed case than Antec. The SX830 mid-tower case has enough room for 3 internal Hard Drives, 3 Internal 5.25” Drives (DVD/CD-ROM), and comes with a 300w power supply, two fans, all set in an elegant enclosure.

The 5.25” drives mount onto rails that slide in and snap with quick-release tabs for easy access, and the sides (one of which can be left to lock/unlock for easy access) swing out and pull off with no fuss. There’s even a spot to mount a fan in front of your hard drives, and all of the metal edges have been rounded off to abet unwanted snags and cuts. At $90, you can’t beat it.

For $30 more, Antec ships the SX1040 (or SX1040B if you want it in black) which comes standard with a 400w power supply and 4 more internal drive bays.

stil lonly sayas about amount of drive bays being different

So it's not worth spending 40$ just for 4 drive that i won't use

Get the SX1040, thats an excellent price for one of those cases. I've got 2 of them and they got a lot of room for a lot of stuff. :)

That PP412x is an incredible PSU. Adjustable rails are awesome for the serious OC'er, and as someone said earlier, tons of room. I have the same case and it is incredible, if you are in there a lot I think you would be a lot happier with the bigger version. $40 is incredible, considering that PSU was going for $70 about 6 months ago, and the case usually retails for >$65 alone. I say get it. :)

I didn't mentioned it but it's without the psu, then there is no more room than my current case and i've a 420W TTGI psu and i'm really happy with it

OK, I was gonna say. Still a nice price though if you really want the extra space. :)

There's no added space compared to the case i already have, i could always buy it and make a waterbox but i need to see some design first, as i can't put one on top of the other

if the pic's that i got are right, which i think they are, i done a google image search then ther eis no extra space to be gained, will double check pics :D

Good price for a great box (Paid almost 3 times that for mine) but if you're in the market you may want to take a quick look at the Cheiftec DX01BD. SX1040's twin but has front firewire and USB for an extra 3 bucks. $45 at Newegg.

Second i'm not really in the market, my current case is great and i don't need to change it (it's an antec SX630) maybe my bro will be interested, i'll ask him. It's just that i thought that it's cheap and i would buy it if it was bigger than mine but it's not. I'll spend the €42 on some more wc parts
