Please and I say PLEASE ignore this man.
I have emailed the support staff at WCG and asked that he be removed and his posting privledges be stopped.
NOW is a time for restraint from all of us and I ask that you ignore him.
He is a troll and his prurpose is to start a flame war.
He can not do so if we ignore anything he posts in any section.
This is where we need to let the staff at WCG fight the battle for us.
I would also ask that if you disagree with anything one of the moderators say in the team thread there that you respectfully reply and try and keep it very nice. I mean VERY nice.
I want to see us climb to the top in this app and our doing so will state what our capabilities are louder than responding to fools like this guy..

Dagorath is showing child like mentality of drawing attention to himself. His psychotic view that he is right no matter, is blatant, he will not quit the argument which furthers my view of psychopathic tendancies.

This could be a side effect of viagra which he obviously needs and with this feeling of inadequacy he needs to TRY to be a man somehow! The need to drop to baseless remarks and personal slights shows a lack of intelligence which is not how he normally tries to get his character across. He would normally pretend, by means of long post`s tempered with technologic words gleaned from others, that he is in fact an intellectual when it is blatantly clear this is not the case.

This type of behaviour, if not dealt with by society`s rules, is best ignored.
There really is no cure for limp dicked nutters who believe they are God !

I read that post of Marcels, copied it to an email to the support staff and posted our feelings about it.
That guy is slime and a blatent liar.
I'm going to start another thread asking that we ALL use the damned stock BOINC client with no optimisations on WCG and blow these asses out of the water with no possible comments from them.

If you read this thread you will see that Movieman started the derogatory comments and condescending talk. All Dagorath did was try to help him. Apparently, after several posts, Dagorath was informed by people who know Movieman's history and Xtreme System's history of cheating and so, after continued attacks by Movieman, Dagorath told him off. Well done Dagorath, he deserved every bit of it and more applause

XtremeSystems has recently left Rosetta@Home and joined the WCG project. We left from Rosetta because we were called cheaters. The local staff did nothing about it. There had been many flame wars in which we participated. We later realized that it had been a wrong movement, as a lot of people from the community joined against us. I want to say something very important over here: we definitely aren't cheaters, we are just a bunch of dedicated, crazy overclockers. We care about the science being done, and that is why we chose WCG as our next project.

As we were moving on to this project, people from Rosetta contacted others at WCG, telling them about 'why we were cheaters'. Yet again a flame war has started at your forums, in the general chat area. We decided not to react to any flames in the thread, though. We are a dedicated team and we won't get ourselves being called cheaters again, as is happening now in this thread (read from page 3 on):

Because we are so dedicated, we are using the optimized cruncher files. It modifies the benchmark used by the boinc client (by using the SSE/SSE2 instruction sets, depending on what CPU you are running). In our opinion it justifies the difference between Intel and AMD systems (as BOINC prefers AMD cpus). If you consider this cheating, we are willing not to use them, as long as there is a clear statement at your forums (or anywhere else on your site) where we can read this. If you do not want us (and anyone else) to use them, make this clear and we will delete them straight away.

Our goal is to get to the first place in your project, and we don't want to be called cheaters on the way getting there. As for now, there has never ever been any project in which we weren't able to get to first place when we wanted to. We have the firepower to do that. Our greatest member still has to get to this project (he had a break after leaving Rosetta), and he had an average output higher than that of the team in second place. At the moment, we are having an output of about 100000 credits a day (boinc credit). We used to have a steady output of more than 500000 credits per day at Rosetta (yes, that's half a million). This means, that if we can get to full throttle, which we definitely will if we stay, we can achieve 4 million WCG credits per day. We are glad to help your project, but if we don't know whether we are allowed to use optimised clients and are being called cheaters, we can still leave your project, as we haven't yet done much work. When we left Rosetta, we were begged by the project administrator to please come back. We didn't. Please don't make us decide to leave to another project again.

We really like your project and the science being done, but if we can't crunch because of members calling us cheaters and nothing is done about it, I'm afraid to say we'll probably leave. I therefore ask you to take appropriate action by either removing the thread, banning the members that are flaming and by officially stating whether optimized clients are allowed. If you want more info on them, please contact me or any other members of the team.

You don't want to lose this team, as what happened at Rosetta. You have not yet seen nothing of what this team is capable of. I and every other member of my team hopes that you will take appropriate action.

I actually deleted my passwords to WGC. After Rosetta I decided I was not going to participate in any project MB: they will have use of my crunchers but not my brain. That is the beauty of the math projects: no MB to talk about LOL The only thing I have done at Rosetta is motivate those :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::b anana:s to show their ignorance by making conclusions based on small sample statistics and to enjoy the perverse almost :banana::banana::banana::banana:ographic love fest they are having with David Kim and the Moderators

From now on the only answer those asshols should get is the feel of our boots breaking their backs and necks as we stom on them in every Project. Hi Bok thanks for your support and to everyone else for their support at WCG Forums
especially to Carl.H. I was on the same team as Carl.H when I first started DC with UD for PC Advisor but I don’t suppose he will remember me as I didn’t post a lot just crunch a bit. I am glad that everyone managed to keep cool because that guy was winding me up and that takes a bit of doing. I wasn't going to the throw all my computers at WCG but I am now I have just ordered some more memory so I can run the cancer projects it should be with me in a day or 2.

Well, I just did some switching around of rigs and got one OCed another 300mhz, and got my second X2 finally running @ 2.75ghz. If this keeps up, I might have to buy a 6400 to put in this Asrock conroe board I have sitting around.

I haven't touched it since it got to my house. My e6600 has been too happy sitting in my P5W DH. Since it's only capable of 3.35ghz @ 1.6v on watercooling, I only need FSB of about 375.

especially to Carl.H. I was on the same team as Carl.H when I first started DC with UD for PC Advisor but I don’t suppose he will remember me as I didn’t post a lot just crunch a bit. I am glad that everyone managed to keep cool because that guy was winding me up and that takes a bit of doing. I wasn't going to the throw all my computers at WCG but I am now I have just ordered some more memory so I can run the cancer projects it should be with me in a day or 2.

i know, i'm just kidding. i don't get nearly enough sleep. but i'm one of those people that needs background noise to help me sleep. my rigs are in my office which is right next to our bedroom, but they are still loud enough for my background noise :)

there are quite a few high CFM 12cm and 8cm fans going in there. the 5000rpm thermaltake 8cm fans are ridiculously loud.

I got a very nice letter back from one of the admins at WCG tonight.
Explained how WCG worked at a deeper level. He addressed why they haven't gone after optimizing the apps and the explanation made sense.
He also said that they'd like to see everyone using the stock client and I read that as a subtle hint. All in all a nice letter and it was good to see them responding and quickly to our concerns.
Add this to the fast response by them to that issue with the gentleman yesterday am and it tells you that they are welcoming us and will not put up with any crap from people harassing us on their forum.
I emailed him back asking for his permission to post the letter here and as soon as he answers I will post it here.
Quorum system or not, I think we will do well here.

Thanks MM. OK, that seals it everyone. Need to go to stock clients. As soon as all my users reboot, they will be changed back.

Anyone who has a lot of machines to monitor really should check out boincview (http://boincview.amanheis.de/). Using the HOSTS tab, it will even tell you what client version the machine is running so you can tell which machines are at stock and which running opti's. :fact:

If anyone needs help in this endeavor, I have scripts set up and am very familiar with running BoincView. Just IM me and we can chat. NP.

And yes, it is nice to see the way the real teams are reacting: with respect and even in fun... that is what true competition is. I am happy I see people like Bok, Carl, Bubbles, Kristoff and other team members visit us, egg us, have fun. In the spirit of true distributed computing , they really know what is going on and why we ( and in this I include the true teams not team Oscar Meyer) crunch.

If the the admins want us to use stock clients that just fine by me, just so long as everyone else is playing by the same set of rules. Quorum or not, this project needs to make a clear and public statement that even the most obtuse user like Dagorath or Mercel can understand. I realize that it wont prevent someone from coming in with a Opti client, but we all need to be accountable to the same standards and information (the statement) is the first step towards any such accountability.

Bottom line is if they want us to use stock clients then they should want others to follow as well and this should be communicated via channels that everyone can see, read, and point to, instead of some back-channel e-mail that gets sent when some issue arises. Until such time this statement comes to fruitition, I'm in no particular hurry to change my clients. I know that might irritate some, but thats the way I feel. I will crunch another project if members of this team have a problem with it - just say the word.

cancer WUs on the other hand were returning @much higher percentage for me, maybe 30-40% range. I suspect faster rigs are crunching mostly cancer with the relatively high RAM requirement. Probably our odds with the quorum are better running cancer project alone?:stick:

As I understand it's basically credit = benchmark * time, with some factor correction of course. The idea is that a faster machine will have a proportionally higher benchmark for the less time it takes to crunch a work unit, so the credit claimed by both a fast and slow machine is the same, but of course the benchmark isn't the greatest at determining the actual performance.

That post was before the mess at Rosy..He's been dealt with and effectively I think by the WCG admins. They shut him up and closed the 2 threads that he was bellowing in and also cleaned up some of his abusive posts..
That's fine by me. I don't have to be loved by everyone but life would be more fun without guys like this. He has no competitive drive so can't understand people who do. He's also under the misconception that we left Rosetta over the credit change like I give jack crap about credits..
