Everything and anything is great. We each do our best depending on our circumstances. BTW, an x2 3800+ is a great cruncher, very strong.

its a distributor, publisher, and subscriber, and it replicates several large databases. it would crush 1 core. not to mention SQL replication is bloated just like the OS it runs on.

Thanks but its on Phase so its really not all that impressive :)

420 fsb?
Yes...so far I have pencilled the resistor but I ordered a batch of 10k pots so will make a voltage mod when they arrives. I ordered a batch of 10 so that I have some room for corrections if I screw something up :)

How do you cool the NB?

Phase helps the cpu, but seems like you have to work a little to get 420+ out of the p5W.

@ Every one, If only 1 box or 50 and the company's servers it all helps. Just think of every one you know that has a box they leave on 24/7 and it just sits there running a screen saver. Go put Boinc on them and WCG under your name and claim the points. :woot:

i just added 8 woodcrest cores for a couple days. i ran the benchmarks on these though and i'm still only getting like 3000/6000 around that range. isn't that really low?

i must be doing something wrong... i get super low benchmarks on all my machines. these woodcrests are supposed to be Conroes only better.

yea, i installed the optimized files. i get low benches on every machine though. i have 5 multi xeon servers, a few P4 machines, and my single opteron server OCed. the best score out of all of those is around 3000/6000. thats not even half of what it should be.

That's crazy.

a64@2.4: 4110/13403
a64@2.75: 4655/15631

Operating system maybe? Lower priority? Do you run as a service (not that that should make a difference)?

itznfb
09-06-2006, 06:53 PM
yea, a couple are on XP Pro, the other are on W2K3. all normal priority, all run as service.

it has to be something i'm doing, it's this way on like 10 machines.

Firechicken
09-06-2006, 07:06 PM
I get around 4.5k/13.5k w/3000+ Venice @ 2.5GHz, optimized.

My s754 3000+hammer/castle halfbreed is about 4-4.3-13.5k (win xp) @ 2.45Ghz Optimized as well. (well when it was working anyways:rolleyes: .)

itznfb, it really sounds to me like somthing in the opti files didn't go into the boinc folder right, because that really sounds about in the ball park of what an amd in that range might get on the poor side if not optimized, but i'm sure you've been over that road already.

Any bios settings like throttling or anything like that going on anywhere?, somthing using one of the cores for somthing else? Drivers of any kind?.

Like I said I'm sure you know what you are doing but somthing sure is not right there.

rob725

I'm not running as service. Maybe bust one out and just load it manually and see what happens.

Welp, just had a death in the family - The old dell p3 800 lappy finally gave up its smoke.. and is now deceased. Started locking up yesterday, and finally won't even give a post. :explode: :dammit:

Guess I gotta start looking for a dual core lappy now. Must.... have... portable.... sanity.... while caring for mom. Anyone know of any good ones? Just started looking a bit at the turion X2's, sorting out their numbering, the 50 and 52's both run at 1.6ghz, and the 56 @ 1.8, the 60 @ 2ghz.

Time to go hunting for a merom and compare, would like to stay under 1500, but probably gonna be disappointed. Would like to get one with its own vid memory, instead of shared crap, but I think that's what's gonna bump me out of price range. Any suggestions, or directions to look would be appreciated.
