need help with LCD monitor and PS2

I tried to play ps2 on my LCD monitor, the CG movies are perfectly fine but everything else looks terrible on the LCD, even the image is delivered by component cable.
anybody know why?

This happens to me on my 21" Gateway LCD as well. I plugged my Xbox into the component input and it looks terrible no matter what settings I try.

It could be something with the upconversion, but I'm not sure. I haven't been able to fix it.
