View Full Version : Newegg, G.Skill Problems with RAM

I know that the newegg customer support agent and G.Skill Technician post in XS threads and I would like to let them know about a situation. Many sources (including all workable builds of CPU-Z) have shown me that my memory is very strangely mismatched (or problematic). One stick reports at DDR600 and one at DDR550, observe my screenshot:
http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h169/jaadams1/MemoryProblems.jpg

The sticks will not run at above DDR540 Stable.

These are the pair I ordered, though only one of the sticks reports as this:
Model Name : F1-4800DSU2-1GBFF (512MB x 2)

Overview : PC4800(DDR600) 1T 2.5-4-4-8 Dual Channel

Specification
Capacity 1GB (512MB x 2)
Speed 600MHz DDR (PC4800)
CAS Latency CL 2.5-4-4-8 1T
Test Voltage 2.7~2.9 Volts
PCB 6 Layers PCB
Registered/Unbuffered Unbuffered
Error Checking Non-ECC
Type 184-pin DIMM
Warranty Lifetime

Can anyone help me? My pc normally runs at DDR540 w/cpu at 2.43ghz and does not run 24/7. G.Skill Technician? Newegg Guy?

I am a loyal customer newegg, and probably always will be. But I bought these Open Box (or "Recertified") and they appear not to be certified for these speeds. I do not have the box they are shipped in, but I do have the receipt from my order. Would this also present a problem?

If this should be moved to the G.Skill customer support section or General Hardware, then a mod can feel free to move this there.

Try them in dual channel?

They're dual channel I beleive. The thing is that I think it's a problem where G.Skill might have mis-labled their chips ratings on one of the sticks.

Says what it should say. DDR600@2.5-3-3-8.

Is this the time where I apply for RMA?

Yes. I will take a High-Res pic and post it here in like ten minutes. I will proceed to test it on yet another PC.

Appears the same on another other pc. How should I go about applying for RMA? Use the Forum? These do not have a box to them... do I need their retail box? They came in a small plastic container from newegg and thats it...

you need to fill out the rma form
weird SN is different but that is ok
fill out rma form and return to rma@gskill.com

Yeah the set I just returned today for a RMA replacement had one SN after the other:

5988 and 5989 (matched)

But I've not been impressed with G.Skill. Mine fried with just trying to run at the rated speed DDR500. Don't know if they we're just a bad set or they don't like my Motherboard. (MSI NEO2 Platinum) What ever the case the Corsair 3500LL (DDR433) are already running at DDR490.

Thanks
Shawn

I actually like g.skill and am very impressed with them. BTW, Technician, do you still have the same sticks that I have or other DDR600s? Or are they out...

I just sent my RMA form to the email BTW.

Thank you for your help.

Have you received the email yet or should I resend? It's been 2 days. And how long does shipping usually take?

Thnx,
