hi i just joined yesterday and have my rig running half the time a celeron 1.3@1.5, a p3 1ghz and a p4 1.76 running part time (rosetta and wcg) i took 13h to complete one wu on the celeron and i have no points yet. whats with that i have submited two wu's and have nothing! also should it betaking that long to complete the wu? that p3 is in it's 14th hour and only 85% done! on rosetta it took like 4 hours max on the p3 to complete a wu. is something wrong or is this the way it sould be?

also does the cancer project need more ram? if so how much?

thanks:toast:

cancer project requires 750mb of RAM, but doesn't really use that much. i dont' think it should be taking that long

just check all three projects, and it will give you work that meets the min requirements of your machine.

That sounds like it could be some of the trouble alright.

ya my good rig takes from 2-3 hours to do one and it ht so it does two at once on a single core proc! so it's ok but it's the other ones:( oh well i'll get over it they all make a difference!!! man it takes forever to get points from wcg  and it takes forever to validate finished wu's:mad:

The length of time it takes to do a WU depends on which ones you are crunching.

Cancer (HDC) are relatively small and take around 1.5 - 3 hours depending on machine, Aids (FAAH) vary alot in size and some are quite big and can take 4-8 hours or more.

On older slower machines those times can obviously be a lot longer, and power rigs shorter.

on a 1.3 P3 it is like 4 hours and on my 1.8 PPC mac it is 3.5 so it is just the packets you get to crunch. Ram will deff tell what you get. The Cancer one will not go if under the ram limit. My 1.3 will not do it. Says so in the messages tab of Boinc.
