View Full Version : What are SPD timings on G-Skill DDR2 HZ?

OK, what give on these. cpu-z says that spd timings at 400 (DDR2-800) are 5-5-5-15. I thought the spd timings were supposed to be 4-4-4-12. Am I wrong in thinking this?

The reason I ask is that when I have the voltage set to +.2 in the bios )2.0 effectively) and set it to 4-4-4-12, XP locks up on boot. I upped it to +.3 and it booted in. Is this normal for these sticks? The voltage on the sticks actually says 2.0-2.1. I am not doing any overclocking at the moment, everythigh is set to stock speeds ('cept the ram!).

Any of you out there running these same sticks let me know what you are able to tun them at and be stable. If I have to set it back to 5-5-5-15 to be stable, then so be it, but if not, I'd rather not.

Wow, it would appear that I have come across some new ram.

Thanks for all of the replies.

With the DS3 you hit ctrl+f1 it brings you into the advanced menu right? I hit it on mine and it just flashes and leaves me at the regular menu... crap.

It flashes, yes, but then go into the MB intelligent Tweaker section again and all of the advanced ram settings will be there.

Thanks for all of the replies. No it appears there's 100's of threads on this topic and you didn't bother to search... :)

100's? Hmmmm.....

I found 1 that spoke of two or three people having an spd issue, or at least that's the question that was asked, but the thread died out, hence the reason I asked. If you have read 100's of post about this very issue, try adding some insight, rather than "use the search function", which I did.

Does anyone offer any real help at this forum? Your response, pcdoc1, seems to be very typical of the forum members here who have been around awhile. Adding a smiley face to the end of your NON-HELPFUL post doesn't help, either. If I had asked a question about reaching a high overclock, though, and I'm sure people would have been all over it.

Let me guess, I should "get different ram, it's always a ram problem" or, "NF4/5 chipsets suck, they'll never even reach 325". That's all people seem to want to post about lately. Oh, did you read my last post? Check it out and take notes. His question had been asked and answered over and over, but I still managed to take the same amount of time to give him an answer, the same amount of time it took you to NOT answer.

Support forums. Try it, it really does work when people try.

spd is just spd, nothing important and nothing to do with overclcok

with 4-4-4-12 1.9v should load into winodws 24/7 stable no problem

fsb266 800 4-4-4-12 +.1, but can't run memtest under windows. weird but all other stable.

How come my G. Skill PC6400 HZ's are showing two timings tables, haven't seen any other from the screencaps posted at Intel section.
