Hi,

I'm having issues with skipping audio in all applications. When the audio skips, so does the mouse (it stops for a milisecond then jumps back to normal).

The issue is probably with my audio drivers. When I install the latest NVIDIA forceware drivers everything is fine. Why I can't use the nvidia driver is Gigabyte's old driver comes with an audio detection utitlity. It allows me to switch between 5.1 sound and headphones. Nvidia's doesn't seem to work for switching.

I'm running XP Pro SP2
Gigabyte K8NS Pro MB
(Integrated AC 97 audio)
1gb ram
nvidia 6600GT AGP

Virus&Adware free, and CPU usage is not high.

Thanks in advance.

Good idea would be to disable the integrated audio and use some soundcard instead..

How do you disable intergrated audio?

I assume that mobo is an NF2?

Go into BIOS, or check when posting to see if there are any IRQ sharing issues, if your onboard sound is sharing the same IRQ as your video or certain other devices it can create that popping noise, or use DC and reinstall some new drivers

Thanks for the suggestions.

Just a little while ago gigabyte updated their driver set so no skip/popping anymore.

External soundcard would be nice, but I'm saving up for a new system at the moment.
