View Full Version : Tuniq Tower 120 vs Thermalright Ultra 120?

Has there been a single -review- that actually compares these two coolers, or has anyone compared how they match up?

The only things I've found are some reviews having the Sunbeam TT beating a Ninja or Thermaltake, and others with an Ultra 120 beating similar setups. But nothing at all comparing them.

In fact, hardly anyone talks about the Ultra 120 here at all! Why?
Is it that much worse than the Tuniq Tower or something? Or have people just not been able to try them both ? (not even review pages?)

ultra 120 is pretty good...

if you can get the tower though, get the tower.

The way I understand it is both are very good, but the 120 is really good at running quiet fans since it is not too wide, while the TT will be the best, but needs high CFM fans to push air through it. I have the 120. I havn't had a chance use it yet, but it does look quite good on my P5B deluxe.

need to test Tower 120 vs. Ultra 120 vs. Scythe Infinity.

Tower 120 has fin density but could use more/better heatpipes.
Ultra 120 has the heatpipes too close...
Infinity has too low fin density..

edit - toss in the TT-BT for fun, too. I've got one of those so thats 2/5 coolers..

I think I'm going to be ordering the Ultra-120 tomorrow, but the $60 it costs makes me weep :(

You can do better than that price. Just can't remember where I saw it for 45 or so.

Let me also add that I'm likely to be using a push pull fan config on there. I expect to have some heat to deal with. With a regular Conroe, probably just a single fan, just get a good one.

will give you some ideas

Well it's $60 including a 120MM Yate Loon and shipping :) The Heatsink itself is only $45.

What I want to see is the Sunbeam Tuniqe vs. Thermalright Ultra 120 vs. ThermalTake Big Typhoon vs. Scythe Infinity vs. Noctua NHU-12 vs Scythe Shogun vs ThermalTake Silent Tower 112.

I really want to see which of the coolers cool the procs the best and really help out the OC.

How good is the Shogun?

That's exactly what I'd like to see too!

When I read that review of the Infinty a few days ago, I was shocked that it did better than the Scythe Mine. Either they did their test wrong or the Infinity sucks.

My bad I didn't specify. It did a little better than the Mine by like 1 degree.
