If you're a student (or not, they work on the honor system at Apple.com), they're 1099. Amazon has them for 999 after a 100 dollar rebate. You won't find cheaper then those two solutions.

They will ask for you to provide proof when ordering online at the end before they ship the laptop.

No they won't. I've ordered two laptops from them. Never been asked for ID.

That is alittle too dishonest for me. I cancelled my order after doing it.

Well that is different then. And if you are a student how do you know they don't check with the school to see if your a student.

Because it's a waste of their time.

Well when I was in the store they didn't care if I was a student at that time..they just wanted some sort of proof I was going to be a student or if I had a friend that was. They seem to really want to give you that damn discount for some reason...I wonder why that is..

The stores want ID. Phone or Internet sales don't.

Purchased through higher education, you get 3 years warrenty instead of the standard 1 year and ~10% off!

Edit: See lower post, UK ONLY! (Go uk, suppose were paying extra anyway...)

What colleges give THAT deal? All the UMich Ann Arbor schools (regular, law, med, dental) only give the nominal $50-100 off stockers (then reduced upgrades as well, but not NEARLY 14%). I also don't see anything about a 3 year warranty as a free upgrade....

Yeah...got doubts about this 3 year warranty deal...

I just bought a macbook through Apples website with the student/staff discount and definitely did not get an extended warranty. I did get a free nano after mail in rebate though

They did not verify employment (at University) when I purchased it.

Who said I have a MacBook Pro? Does it say that anywhere? And who said I paid for this "MacBook". And I have never ever paid for any piece of software in my life.

And I feel pitty for those who "pay" for Vista at such a high price for such a piece of crap.

Just found it funny after reading a few posts.

anyways, Ive used the student discount before and didnt get ID'd

Because its illegal for schools to give out that kind of information. Well at least in Canada it is.

15% on UK MacBook Pro's and 3 year warrenty :)

15% probably brings it to US price :p:

Edit: This is thanks to the UK Government, something good :)
