Hi,

I own a ocz 520 watt adjustable PSU, and i recently called you guys up at tech support, they said they would email me a RMA number, but its going on day 3. I am contacting you, becuase i need a RMA, becuase i have not tuched the pots on my 520, and the red led on the back came on, and i was like, what is wrong, and i took the 5 volt reading off of the 5v rail via a multimeter, and it was at 5.2 volts, and would surge down all the way to 4.9. I called, and they told me to slightly turn down the pots a tad, and i did, and it was still red. The rep came to the conclusion that the psu was bad. Now, that i came to that conclusion, they said they would email me a rma number, and i still have not recieved one.
I am also worried that the PSU may have damaged some components in my system becuase i was having major stability issues. Either way, i figure i would contact you, becuase im really starting to get aggervated with this situation as i had many projects i was working on stored in thare, and at the current time i can not afford a new PSU due to school expenses ect.

Thanks,

Ryan
.
PS.
I figure you would need my system specs as the guy who i talked to wanted them as well

2 BFG 7800 GTs 256 in SLI
DFI Expert 939
2gb of mushkin xp4000
x2 3800 939

Hello,

Where are you seeing the 5.2V? In software or bios, that number can't be trusted, you need to use a multimeter as shown here: http://www.bleedinedge.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7069

If you don't want to measure voltages while the system is running, you can do this:

Disconnect the PSU from everything (wall, mobo, etc) ...then plug the unit back into the wall socket and connect a couple fans or a hard drive to a molex connector to provide a load.

Now....with the switch on the back of the PSU in the off position...locate the Dark Green wire in the ATX connector and using a paper clip (or something similar) "jump it" to any of the black wires in the connector....Now flip the switch on the back to On.......the PSU should start up and run.

Pictures of the jumpstart are here: http://www.bleedinedge.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5577

You can also use a Screwdriver to turn down the pot so the light is green again.

i think something with the psu is wrong due to the fact that it had this voltage increase happen just in a bit. Nothing was changed, and this shouldnt happen, right, especially if i did mess woth the adjustments, and i dont want to, becuase, frankly, im scared im going to blow my stuff up
