THIS IS JUST SPECULATION AND IS UNTESTED. It appears that the only difference between nf570 ultra and nf570 sli is that ultra has this resister on it, where sli doesnt.

can someone unsolder the resistor on his non-sli board?

Just tested it. It works. I'm interested to see if theres a performance difference between running sli on a native sli chipset or using nvidias new drivers to run sli on a non native sli chipset... if somone could test this out it would be appreciated.

It doesn't fully work. Search the forums, I started a topic on this in the AMD section and someone posted a link to a site where they tried it.
To get a fully operation SLI board you have to solder about 10 resistors on that the non sli version doens't have on it's board, right next to the second 16x pci-e slot. Otherwise you have 16x and 1x sli if I'm correct.

Hmmm.. I suppose you are correct.
