Last month I picked up a Cryo compressor off ebay for $100 without knowing too much info based upon auction.

Well much to my surprise it is a Helium cryo compressor in good working condition. Still under pressure.

Now I am making the decision to build a box to freeze or build a huge evaporator loop for GPU/CPU/Chipset/RAM

I will post a complete set of pics

This cooler was made to cool very very large electric generator. This unit was the spare.

Nothing special about the cooling lines as they are standard copper.

The compressor itself is water cooled :)

Im about a month away from having the unit mounted and wired into its spot in our new building.

We have a few engineers on staff who are complete boggled at the stuff I come up with. WTF can you do with -300c?

I popped off the panels and took some pics

Thats a beautiful looking unit. Looks brand new. What is it rated for as far as temps/heat removal go?

Awesome FUGGER!

If I meet with an early demise, would you freeze me and arrange with your decendants to thaw me out in say 300 years? I want to see what AMD processor is out then. Thanks:D

Looks good :slobber: , what does it have in the way off an evaporator/ heat exchanger at the moment?
$100 :slobber: , that looks like a steal in that condition.

No exchanger atm, I have 1 hose that makes completes the loop. its stubbed to 2 quick release fittings on the back so I may attempt to cut the hose in half and add a evaporator or just by another new hose.

no date on the ouside of the case but I guesstimate this to be 10 to 12 years old. its very clean inside. the screws appeared to be untouched when I took the panels off. It has a service tag on it not due for service yet. Its still under pressure and has a few thousand hours before the scrubber needs to be replaced.

Best of all, CVI is still in business and have a trade in program on this model. A brand new one will run me $9500 after trade in.

I am not sure of rating for heat removal, I need to order the manual to it still.

i think you well get some strange effects when you cool your pc down with that temp
-300 makes some materials (conductors) non resictance

hmm i think you will mess up your pc when you directly cool it down with that -300

still...100buck is a steal

Guys guys,

All of you must know the celcius table ends at -273'C right?
Then what's that -300'C figure I keep seeing throughout them posts?

Here is a good conversion site which includes the Kelvin scale.

FUGGER, How big of a evaporator coil do you think you need for that beast? I might be able to help you out in that department.

I didnt measure the diameter of the line but it looks like 3/8"

May will be Cryo month for me, I need to get moved into the new building before I can even start on setting it up. I already provisioned for the 220v single phase run.

Well, tell me how much actual exposed coil space you figure it's going to take to meet the required needs for it, I work in air conditioning supply, so I have access to evap coils. I've got a few in the basement now that I've tinkered around with. I can get 2 through 4 pass, but they might be a little big for you. Thats why I need to know how much exposed area you think you need. The smallest I've got right now is a 2 pass that measures around 14" x 18", 3/8" rifled copper tubing in aluminum fins. I just got a hold of a oxy/acetelene torch setup for modifying, but I still need to get the tanks filled. I've been trying to work on cutting these things down and reapplying the 180 degree bends on the ends for smaller creations, just haven't had enough time to spend on it.
