is possible to blend the separated 12V lines in the new psu's?
in theory, both lines draw power from a single output.

nothing?

I do believe so... there must be a guide somewhere, shouldn't be rocket science.
Isn't theat hard wire copper mod in the thread above made that way (didn't check the details, yet)

i think he just put the lines on copper rails. what i need is blend the separated 12v rails. i mean the psu comes with 17A on 12v1 rail and 15A on 12v2. i need to blend both lines to get a single 32A 12V rail.

in theory it should work, basically just putting them together in parallel to share the load. You should be able to just connect both 12 volt rails together to get one big rail. I'm not game enough to try it myself, so why don't you do it and tell us the results :p:

It would work, but it is not recommended. The rails will very likely not be 100% perfectly matched in voltage. This means they will discharge into eachother and put constant strain on the PSU. This might mean nothing, or it might mean your PSU dies a month down the road...

I wouldn't recommend it. As Stigma pointed out, if those voltages aren't exactly matched, current will flow out of one rail and into another. You do not want that.

Well, in theory there could be some circuitry to prevent that. All in all, I'm not sure. I wouldn't try it though. What are going going to gain from doing that? Nothing really, right?

also the output is never double... for axample my PSU has two 20A 12V rails but max output is only 30 amps...

i need to feed a 200w+ peltier and i dont have money for a meanwell

What about a 430/480W Tagan? Single 12V rail of 25-28A. Also a lot more versatile than a Meanwell. You can also put your HDDs and ancillaries on the PSU to load all the rails and stop it stalling..leaving your main PSU less stressed for your CPU/GPU.

that's what im gonna do and change my ocz ps 520 too. i think it's not powerfull enough for the x1900xt o/c

you are all forgetting something, most psu's dont have seperate 12v rails to begin with, they are all virtual rails, one big 12v rail being split into smaller ones, the mushkin psu's are a prime example of this.

yep tagan 480 has split/non-split mode, and i guess all psus with split lines draw such current from a single 12v source

I dont see why connecting them togther wouldnt work.

I suppose you could put some caps and diodes between the rails to smooth them out.

But please DONT put a pelt on them... a very easy way to blow up the PSU.

Take a look in the pelt section for some info on making a pelt PSU, and other advice on powering pelts in a safer more efficent way.

I could post a load of questions about your pelt, but please post in the right section.
