I getting the P5W-DH motherboard and was wondering if the OnBoard soundcard was fine enough to meet my needs.

I always use headphones, just ok headphones, in my computer room, so I really donĀ“t need any special sound there.
But I have the Computer hooked up to a switchbox (jack-to-composite) that is connected to my Logitech Z-5500.

Would a better soundcard give any better sound from the Logitech Z-5500 ??? After the signal has traveled from Jack-to-Composite then from Composite-to-jack to the Logitech Decoder !

Is there an optical jack on your Z-5500s ? (i forget) if there is then i would use that if possible . then it doesn't really matter what soundcard you use. But if the majority of your time is headphones i would think that the onboard would be just fine... if not then an Audigy 2 ZS is a good and cheap upgrade.

this has optical output and encodes anything to full 7.1 surround sound.

Yeah, but would the Optical Out have any advantages as the sound travels through a switch box wich is Composite and then to Jack...?

Check out the attached picture...
I would like to have a digital/optical Switchbox but then the iPod and Tv couldnĀ“t be connected :(

P.s.: There is a Optical, Coax and Composite in the Z-5500.
