hmmm interesting...
I have removed an IHS from a 478 prescott, that was soldered on
Might try with a celeron 2.6 i have lying around here

I would try this with the chip upside down. After the rubber seal has been cut you know that the IHS is only held on my the solder.

If you have it upside down, the solder will let go when it becomes liquid. that way you know you arent going to pry off the core...

It is just a netburst cpu, a Core 2 Duo would be a REAL-REAL WASTE!;)

631 Running it on air cooling with a Scythe Ninja heatsink... 4.6ghz before IHS...but it POST's and thats definetly a good sign of a working chip

You think you killed it, or just havent played with it yet?

It posts so it works!! As i siad it aint mine it's a mates and he's awating ram to full test it like but the fact it posts is always a good thing!

I cracked up pretty hard when I got to the last page, I thought he'd realize prying was bad after breaking the first one.
