I just switched out my Soyo dragon for a Chaintech Apogee, and noticed my network throughput went from about 5m/sec to 80mg/sec or so. This is something I've been struggling with since I had this board I just never realized what it was till now. I thought I had some bad ends (made the cat myself).

Now, I want to hit 100mg/sec, and I can't do it, it just seems to top out at around 80. Suggetsions anyone?

I can't believe Soyo's int. nic sucked that badly... On the other hand, I've got 3 differant Chaintech boards now, and I'm happy with all of them so far.

Id say 80Mbits per sec is pretty good, try a bit of pre-made cable to see if it is ur cable.

what u think of them chaintechs? weve started to get them in at work, is it kt333 or 400 or the nf2

Thanks,

Craig

It's the kt333, I'm going with a nf2 next. It's definately a stable board, even in games it's more solid than the dragon ever was.

I tried some already made cable, I think I may need to defrag the drives and test it again.

Yeah, they are stable, it surprised me at work when I built a system with one in. I think they run too hot though even at stock, NB cooler isnt to great (this was the KT333). The KT400 is just the same. Not sure bout NF2 but take of the cooler when you get it and youll find no thermal grease so youll have to put some on, the NB cooler doesnt make good contact, even with good contact the KT333 ran too hot still i found.

I noticed that. They definately slacked on the NB. I'm going to put a corb on it I think.
