I got my MacBook and I am loving it so far.
I got a White 2.0GHz Core Duo, 1GB DDR2 RAM, 80GB HDD, 4x SuperDrive.
Runs smoothly and I am quickly learning.
If anyone knows some nice sites for learning OSX please let me know. I am still very new to the whole Mac thing.

And let us know how the temperature's are doing, before I get mine I want the apple people to agree to me changing the thermal compound myself, 90C load temperatures are a joke :) As long as I do the application at their service centre there shouldnt be a problem, unless they're idiots, which they very well might be.

Enjoy it! I love my macbook pro since day one.
But after 10 years of windows it took me a whole lot of time to get used to the different mouse acceleration! ; )

just play with it an post questions, i'm waiting for the MacBookPro with Merom, should be out late September/early October. Cant wait to see the Windows logo on a mac screen, i have already seen a Mac logo on a PC :woot: and a compaq at that

Check out the app Quicksilver (http://quicksilver.blacktree.com/). It lets you launch apps and open files very nicely. Quicksilver and Expose make it really easy to navigate windows and launch things. There are some plugins that allow you to do things like control iTunes, email very quickly etc.

Also how do I view the temps...
I can tell you the bottom does get alittle warm to sometimes hot...
I am loving it so far and getting the hang of it very easily. DivX and AVIs were a pain in the ass to get to play at first but I got them working. WMV files did play once and then they aren't now. Got to work on that.
I have decided not to even do a dual boot with Windows...I am so sick of Windows it isn't even funny. I have no use for it anymore.

Well just sitting idle it is 64C
Loading Photoshop it hit 73C.
So yeah they do get pretty warm...nothing has seem to hurt any processing though...I have multitasked so many things..
So far I have Encoded a movie with Popcorn 2 for HD DivX ran and made a movie with iMovie HD and loaded my iPod with over 12GB of data...not even a hiccup...So I can't complain at all. I am very pleased with this Mac...
The only upgrades I plain to do are to get 2 1GB G.Skill sticks of RAM and a 100GB 7200RPM HDD. Hopefully they start making larger than 100GB...I am not sure if they are capable to do so...

So far I am loving Popcorn 2 for encoding movies for my iPod...does them with such high quality and around 500MB...
I have noticed loading things to my iPod is a hell out alot faster on this Mac than it was in Windows. But that would only make sense right..!

I dont think OS plays that great a role in how everything updates, Im guessing the memory subsystem on this laptop is better than it was on your pc :wink:

We should start seeing larger capacity 7200RPM drives pretty soon now that Seagate has started shipping the PRT drives. I'm hoping that the first drive we see with this technology in 2.5" will be 300+gb, well 200+ at least :)

seagate has 160GB Notebook drives out, the 200GB should be out soon. are you sure you can upgrade both ram chips? a lot of people, including apple, have been known to soider one dimm into place, which would be a problem, unless you feel you can do it.

I find it horrible that most people look into intel spec sheets, see 100C as highest operating temp and decide 82C acceptable.
These chips should be running max around 60. Redo the thermal paste in apples store, they should accept that.
As long as it is funny fine I am not worried about the temps...

I can verify that both the MB and MBP are setup to easily facilitate the upgrade of memory.
Are you planning running Windows on it?

What are the build quality on the new Apples?
Im considering getting one.. although the G4 iBooks can be had for quite the cheap market on eBay now.
They are very smooth looking. I feel in love with it the first time I touched one...lol
I myself will never use Windows again...Everytime I touch my other laptop I hate it...I hate how it locks up or freezes or just anything that normally goes wrong with Windows.
I don't regret the switch one bit at all.

Agreed on all counts. MB's and MBP's are the clear winner for current laptops with high portability and maximum firepower. The build quality on the MBP is exceptional, nothing but super fine craftsmanship all the way around.

The latest firmware update seem to fix alot of heat issues...the bottom doesn't get no where near as hot anymore. Which is very nice.
