we are moving up the stats list quite fast is SOB.......But if we had a couple more people that were producing +1T per day, we would be moving up the stats list even faster.

Who is up for the challenge?:D

You can install SOB as a service and it runs almost completley un-noticible.
I run it as a service on all my comps.

Here is how you install SOB as a service.

I have in on one of the Core's cores. It's also on my laptop, which is running whenever it doesn't shut off from overheating. Once I get a s478 board that can OC, I can also get a 2.8ghz P4 running it.

EDIT: It doesn't do anything when it's running as a service.

What do you mean???? all of mine are running as a service.
Did you restart the service?

type "services.msc" in run
right click on senenteen or bust and start/stop

I think DDTung woulld be the man to talk to. CASP is almost over and if he could get it on 4-5 of his DX rigs, then we'd be talkin.

I have it running on my 2.53 p4, and it will be going on my dx rig after casp ends.

OK, the service is running now. I just had to reboot. I stopped and started the service right after I installed the service, but it didn't help.

7 people are reporting results today.:woot: :woot:

if we could get 10 to 15 people putting up good numbers we would be golden.

I know some of you want to help.

Got a relative with a P4??? I bet you do.:stick:

I had to stop SOB, was affecting my MJ-12 archiving. Had loads of buckets lined up waiting to be compressed then uploaded.

Hixie! Just make sure that SOB and the archiving thread are on the same base priority on your machine!!!!! Maybe Archiving is set on low priority in your MJ12 settings.! Just make it equal or above SB and you should have no problems. Unless something else is the matter!!

I tried that already, even tried setting MJ-12's priority higher than SOB, it's not obvious at first but over about a week, i started to gather alot of buckets, and download stops after you have a certain number of buckets waiting to be uploaded.

I'm running a couple of machines for now, just got a Conroe to play with so that will take up some of my time.
I have a P4 at 3.8ghz running ok but I have a 805D here that runs at 3.9 ghz and I can not get my head around running two instances so I'm wasting half of it!
I've read all the posts on here but I just can't sus it, anyone care to help?

Install as a service from the command prompt.

I think its sobsvc -i

Then click start-run and type services.msc and in there you should see the service just start and away you go.

It's the command prompt / services bit I can't get my head around.

Click Start. In the start menu, click run. Type "cmd" then hit Enter. If you let SoB install when it usually does,
type "cd C:\Program Files\SB"
"SOBSVC -i" to install it as a service
"SOBSVC -p:2" for it to start 2 instances.

Even I got it to work and I had never EVER used the command prompt before, so it should be easily possible :p:

OK, got it working twice, thanks guys

Struggling to set priority though
if it try to set it in task manager it won't allow it.

There is a readme in the sb directory. That should explain all.

Thats because you set it up as a service that way. Set up the service correctly then it'll be ok! ;)

EDIT: What'ya running it on anyways? Seem to be getting some nice points.

It's on a P805D Currently at 3.8 ghz.
I keep speeding it up a little at a time but even with water cooling these things get hot!
And also on a P4 3.2ghz @ 16x240 3.841ghz

So how do I set it up as a local service as opposed to a system service?
