I’m going to over clock on air. With some after market cooler. Hoping for those sweet 400 Mhz fsb.

CPU: E6600
E6400 the extra cache doesn't seem to make that big difference and the 6400 clocks to 3.5?

MB: Asus P5W DH Deluxe
Gigabyte DS3

3D: Sapphire Radeon X1900GT 256MB GDDR3

Ram: Corsair TWIN2X 6400 DDR2, 2048MB CL5 CM2X1024A-6400

HD: Western Digital Caviar SE16 250GB SATA2 16MB 7200RPM (maybe buying one more later for Raid 0)
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 250GB ST3250620AS checked some reviews and THW (http://www23.tomshardware.com/storage.html)
Marginell difference.

PSU: Hiper PSU ATX 530W Black
Tagan Easycon 480W

If there is anything here witch can be replaced with something cheaper or something better at the same price I would love to know.

Still thinking about it...

Ok, could you elaborate? Other than it being a el-cheapo PSU? BTW its a 1900GT not a 190XT

From my own experience: Hiper = Big crap

Looks good, but I would have bought a Seagate 7200.10 HD instead, since they are faster and cheaper (the 320 GB one is currently the best price/GB).

For gaming I would sugest subing the E6600 for E6400 and with the saved money get a x1900xt since the extra power of the E6600 will not make as big a difference as the X1k.

:fact:

And the Tagan 480w U22 is probably the best $90 PSU out there...

Maybe

E6400 $240
Gigabyte DS3 $160
X1900XT $450
Tagan 480w $90

Here is a deal on a PSU
http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=373062

JGURU apporves of this Ultra and you get $100 savings when you buy it with a 7900GT.

I would wait a few weeks for the Gfx card (if it's no emergency), and buy it when Ati releases 1950 series... that will bring the prices down in the good shops.
And then you got yourself a great bang/buck rig. The rest Iwould go with what charlie said

Ok, I found these two threads
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=108088
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=109192

Tagan U15 (480W & 30A 12V) instead.

Reg E6400:
Well mmmm....my e-penis would be shorter :p: but that i can live with. And a couple of seconds longer in Matlab...well ok.

Reg 1900xt:
hmm... feels funny in my stomach paying allmost twice as much for 3D as for CPU. But that's true and they might drop when 1950 comes. On the other hand i won’t be playing in superhigh rez for quite some time and i would like to get i together now when I have som spare time at my hands.

Reg: DS3
I'll have to check that later. i think i've seen >450fsb? Although can’t find a retailer in Sweden.

Reg HD
Ok, I'll go with 7200.10

BTW I live in Sweden so the egg and such are out of the question (tolls and what not).

Thank You All:buddies:

I'd rather pen-mod 7900 than pay extra for 1900xt, i think. What i understood the biosmod of 1900gt->xt was uncertain cause of the two core revisions?
I love what i did to my 6800gt running att 440/1180 (350/1000) although via bios. but just as easy.

But lets say if something is crap(ex. HD) and something is good please post a link.

Maby i'll go for a voltmoded 7900gt does it have the hdr+aa with new drivers, rememberd that there was a problem?

Not sure if they have new revision out or maybe new drivers but my 7900gtx does not support aa+hdr

but at 1600*1200 i don't really notice the aa at all

Well, what do you guys think about 7900gt with volt mod. I haven't used ati since the rage LT times so im comfortable with the nvidia drivers and so.

I wonder if the 6400 ram @ 400mhz will be able to cope with the high fsb for E6400 & GA DS3 what i've understood +450 fsb aint to hard. but does the ram divider work with 1: (<1) [fsb:ram] or does the CM2X1024A-6400 clock enough to go with 1:1?

I'm also about to buy a conroe system and decided on a hiper too. But now you guys get me nervous. My coice was a hiper 580w type-R. I based that choice on a bunch of reviews.

http://www.pro-clockers.com/article.php?id=40&page=1
Overall, this PSU performed fantastically, with some of the tightest rails I have ever seen, even though it was powering a heavy overclocked system and several aftermarket cooling parts and a temperature monitor. Looks wise it is absolutely stunning.

http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=257&num=1
Overall this power supply unit performed very well. The rails were strong and rather high, but not high enough to cause any worry

http://reviews.pimprig.com/power_supply/hiper_type-r_580w_psu_-_us_version.php
The Hiper Type-R 580W line of power supplies have been popular in Europe, and I believe they will become just as popular in North America also

http://www.viperlair.com/reviews/cases/other/psu/hip4B580/p2.shtml
This is a unit with features that excel many of the more expensive and lower powered brands

Since you live in sweden you might be interested in my comming setup

Whats the deal with the strength on the psu:s. Is 580w really needed, or will a weaker high quality osu, lets say 400-450w do a better job?

IMO don't buy cheap no name core components. This includes MB, ram and PSU. Its just asking for instability or worse. Like the PSU killing components, not handling the load or catching fire. Going cheap on things like the case is not going to hurt you. Maybe just crappy airflow.

Yes thats true. But then again how do we know that it's a crap PSU when the reviews praise it.
But better to get parts for free like the case i am using now. Found it in a dumpster and drilled some holes to mount fans. sharp edges were lined with strips of a dishcloth. ugly, yes, but hidden in a sound hood (also found in a dumpster).

you'll love that 3d card! I just bought one too and can play Bf2 with everything maxed out and 4xAA 16xAF at 1600x1200 and Fear i play at 1920x1200 with same settings. America's army's a breeze and even kick around quake 3 at 1920x1200 with 6xaa and 16xaf.

looks gorgeous. Best paired with a nice high res 24 inch lcd like a 2407. If you're not gunna push those res's then maybe get something cheaper for now and wait out for Nvidia g80 or Ati 's R600 (DirectX 10)

If you buy the E6400 thinking of getting 3.5Ghz, you better have an very good cooler.

3Ghz-3.2Ghz would be more realistic. And the Extra cache give you between 2% and 10% performance increase.

Hehe...and i thought i had decided. As i said before i wont play any games in very high rez.
gahhh...and all the options.:wierd:
then the question is 1900gt or 7900gt consider voltmod on the 7900 and aftermarket cooler

If i get 6400 and 1900gt or 7900 i'll throw in an extra hd now.

BTW i just orderd RAM, PSU and HD
