IT7 and 3:4 Ratio ??

I can't find the post of who had this Mobo and the 3:4 FSB/Mem wasn't working on it.
Anybody that has tested this Mobo please reply and fill us in on wether or not this works on there mobo. Abit tells me it is suppose to work:D

Hmm I belive that JCviggen said that the IT7 did not have an option of running the memory faster than the FSB. Here is what he said:


The IT7 has DDR voltage up to 3.2V BUT you cant run your memory any faster than your FSB.

It was JC but thats not the same thread where he talked about how he has the option but it doesn't work. I think it's at these Forums. I'll have to PM him I think.

well, let me put it like this. The board has a 3:4 function and it works. BUT it does the exact opposite of what I expected it to do. It actually slows down the memory to 75% of the FSB rather than giving the memory speeds a boost. It took me hours of wondering why the 3Dmark score and other benches plummeted with this option until I realised it said at POST 191/143 MHz (I was running 191x17)

I dont know if this has been a misunderstanding or error from the Abit engineers but I am very , véry sure that the board I had in my hands acted like this so I dont see how another board could be different...

so, yes, there is a 3:4 option (or 4:3), and it has the opposite function from what it does on the BD7(II)

JC, did you have the DRAM Ratio H/W Strap set to high or low in the BIOS? The 3:4 is only available in low, while 4:3 is available in high.

In fact it appears to be possible to run the memory at 3:4 rather than 4:3 , it means setting the CPU speed to "low"

god knows why.

Obviously, I only tested with the CPU speed at "high" :D and it didnt give me that option

Yeah, it seems kind of wierd at first, but the 3:4 is only available at 100 so people with 100MHz FSB processors can run at PC2100. Likewise, 4:3 is only available at 133 so someone with PC1600 RAM can still use a 533 FSB P4, and its not available at high because it would result in an unsupported DDR spec - DDR354.

Didnt think they would hide it so well that you need to change the speed to "low" before it gets selectable. Why not put it in the same menu, eh abit ??? lol

I didnt catch that. They made it a bit too complicated too imho, I like a straight forward BIOS :)

It should have a 3rd option right below the high/Low, with 1:1, 3:4, 4:3.

If it's like the BD7II anyway.

the way I saw it, you get 1:1 and 4:3 when its set to "high" and 1:1 and 3:4 when its set to "low"
i think that needlessly complicates things... but ok ;)

Hi,

Setting CPU to "low" and you will get two options: 1:1 and 3:4. In other
hand, setting CPU to "high" will get 1:1: and 4:3. If setting to "By CPU",
it depends on your CPU, a real 400FSB one, or 533 one. It is just like
BD7-II. In fact, this menu is disigned for "normal" use. :)
