Ok you have several options. You can get into a cheap way with a sound card that supports 5.1 getting this card (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16829102175).

Like you, I just my first sound card a few days ago and went ahead with this card. (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16829102163) Hell, 30 dollar instant savings and 100 dollar rebate doesn't sound bad to me:D . And newegg was great. I didn't even pay for three day shipping, and I got my product within 27 hours.
