NVIDIA Corporation (Nasdaq: NVDA), the worldwide leader in programmable graphics processor technologies, today announced that many of the world's leading system builders have elected to launch new enthusiast gaming Intel Core 2 Duo-based systems exclusively with NVIDIA SLI technology. The Intel Core 2 Duo processor combined with an NVIDIA nForce4 SLI X16 or NVIDIA nForce 590 SLI or 570 SLI-based motherboard and one, two, or even four GeForce® graphics processing units (GPUs), has already proven to be an unbeatable combination in terms of system level and gaming performance. This combination is earning early accolades from leading publications, such as Maximum PC magazine, which selected an Intel Core 2 Duo processor-compatible motherboard based on NVIDIA nForce 590 SLI technology and dual GeForce 7900 GTX GPUs for their 2006 Dream Machine cover story.

no crossfire at launch...

Intel yanked ATI yesterday. This isnt surprising to me. Lets hope NV has a kickass chipset for us CD2 guys :)

The nVidia 590 is based off the orig. C19, ie, it sucks ass. Have a nice launch ;)

Eh, I thought 975X already supported Crossfire, did they ninja-kill that somehow?

yes

They did no such thing, Crossfire on 975x is still alive and kicking.

SLI is just a better platform, more stable, more intuitive, more intuitive, less fiddly to set up and less prone to utterly random crashes.

SLI GPU's from the other side of the USA will arrive at 2AM PST.

Ill try to post another 70K before 3AM, maybe 80k by 4AM,

So is the RD600. ;)

Until I test crossfire on the 975x chipset I'll reserve my judgement on whether it's better than SLI.

thats just how good SLI is.

System builders dont pic one thing over the other cause its faster they pic it because it will get them less complaining customers, faster to instal but most of all The price they have to pay for it.

could just as well be that Nvidia gave them a package deal that was cheaper then what ATI had to offer.
hey its not like they think about the customers they think of the people with no knowhow that buy it and about their profit.
