i just got two fans out of my psu and i blew a mobo cap because of the 24 volt reverse current... i bought a 50 volt diode and i dont no where to mount it... on the ground or the hot wire?

Mount it reverse biased between the connections of the fan. Reverse biased means cathode (usually indicated with a band on the casing) to positive, anode to ground.

whats a anode?
so basically the side with a stripe to possitive and the side with no stripe to ground
