Hi,

I'm on a little bit of a tight budget and I need to build a system that will be used mostly for games that will last me about a month. I've got the case, power supply, video card, hard drive and RAM that was used in an AMD build until the motherboard and/or cpu decided to die on me, so all I should need is the motherboard and the CPU

The system I have in mind is a Intel Celeron D 346 (3.0GHz chip), with a cheap LGA775 DDR motherboard so that that I can reuse my 1GB of PC3200 DDR ram.

First of all, I'd like to know what motherboard you'd recommend for me, it has to use DDR ram and have a PCI-E x16 slot for my video card, all of the boards I've found look good, but run the x16 slot in x4 mode

And second, am I likely to take any sort of a performace hit from using the DDR ram? If so, how serious will it be?

As I said, it's only for a month, then I'll be upgrading the motherboard and RAM to something more overclockable in just a month, but I just can't wait any longer!

I've been using Gigabyte's GA 8I915P Dual Graphic (http://www.giga-byte.com/Products/Motherboard/Products_Overview.aspx?ProductID=1879&ModelName=GA-8I915P%20Dual%20Graphic) a while ago, it was also for about a month and it's quite cheap.
It has PCI-E and it supports both DDR and DDR2.
Altough it's not the best board if you want to oc.
DDR2 is limited to 667MHz, you can only do this with oc because highest divider is 3. And with some luck you can hit 668MHz ;)
