am2 socket is to support the k8l right?
also the AMD 64 x2 5000+ 65W EE is the one that saves energy right?
does it save more then the conroe?
how well does a 5000+ overclock? will it hit for example 3.45 on air? or not possible?
if i take a overclocked am2 5000+ at 3.2ghz will it outperform a stock E6600 conroe?

AM2 should support k8l, but nothing is set in stone. It's a year and a half away, so who knows what could happen?
EE stands for Energy Efficient or something like that, so it will consume less power than the regular 5000.
The TDP of the E6600 and the 5000 EE are the same, but both companies measure it differently, but it would be close-ish.
I don't know how well it overclocks, but it almost definatly won't hit 3.45 ghz on air.
The 5000 might outperform the E6600 by a little, but it would get destroyed if the E6600 is OCed.

Might as well go Conroe if you're planning on upgrading that much.

AMD @ 3.2 will outrun a 6700 and a X6800 in a couple benches if the Intels are at stock CPU clocks.

but Couppi is right once OCed the Core CPUs are impossible to catch.

I'm very interested in the x2 5000 EE as well. I think it's got some potential in overclocking and energy saving is a plus. I really like AMD's direction on this energy saving thing. And this is on 90nm technology; I cant wait for a 65nm to run much lower power.
