Im moving to intel from AMD, it's definetly been a while and I never used DDR2 before. Im just lookign for something that will get me to 450-500 with cas4-5

any suggestions guys? not really looking to spend more then 300 bucks
and just how important are timings to conroe?

Team Group ftw.

To the OP, there is a thread on the Team Xtreme PC2-5300 "D9 fatbody" sticks that Freez is mentioning over in the xtreme bandwidth forum. I think Tankguys has good deal on them $180 for 2 GB and they supposedly OC well.

This from me to you don't let the PC2-5300 rating fool you apparently these do that at low voltage and tight timings but scale up well. Also the Micron D9 Fatbody is supposedly the top IC.

yea im actually looking at some teamgroups right now but is tankguys the only US retailer?

the $187 team xtreem on tankguys is what i just got

fancy pants D9 (unfortunately NOT fatbody... right?) is what you pay other brands like $300 for, but it comes in these.

only ddr2-667 stock, but most get 900+ out of em.

you did the links wrong

the only other memory i considered was the cheap patriot 2gb ddr2-667 at newegg. it has a mail in rebate taking it to $150, and you have a chance at getting DS9.

but honestly, with the teamgroup as cheap as it is... you cant not get it

I have TG PC4800 DDR1 TCCD chips now...and I`m not happy with them. I was a little bit sceptic with TG so gone for Gskills...:stick: I will see in 2 weeks if have made the wright decision

Regards,
Primoz

p.s. The Gskills is about 10€ cheaper than TG (gskills from Germany and TG from my country...)

TG's DDR2 kicks ass, just like everyone else's... however, no heatspreaders to deal with and half the price. Give em a whirl bro.

srry bout that links should work now
so is it better to go with slower ram at tighter timings and oc like with the teamgroup stuff

What would be the best, hopefully lower priced ram to hit 3.6+ on an e6600 ?
