How thick should the needle be ? And what kind of temperatures would be best ? I would like to know that .

The best is a soldering station with interchangeable tip sizes and temperature control. Check if you can find a make called Weller by coopertools and choose a suitable modell. But be warned they are not cheap. I use Weller since over 20 jears professionaly.

I did mine with a $2. 30W soldering iron. It has a pencil tip. I have since purchased a Radio Shack 15W iron and a micro tip for it because I think 30W is a little hot and the smaller tip is nice.
