This has probably been asked before but...

Heh
You won't get a %100 answer.

Some say they gain some points with Xp others say they loose some.
I'm gonna say XP because it's been more stable for me overall than 2k.

Overall, I got better 3d marks with W2K Pro. I have benched both OS's at the same MB settings and W2K gave me about 200 more marks. But for gaming and such, I like XP.

Yeah my bro says he just built a machine for someone and for kicks he softmodded the 9500 to a 9700 and just about did everything he could to get the most 3dmarks he could...then he tryed a different OS (XP to 2000) and picked up a few hundred more points...

Anyway I think I'm going to try 2k and see how it goes :)

I'm a big fan of win2k, i've tried xp and i had to lower my clock to get something stable out of it, so i dump it upped my fsb and went back to win2k
Some people have noticed that when benchmarking you'll get higher score using win2k if you're on an amd system and using xp if you're on an intel machine. But that doesn't matter much in games as you won't noticed the difference

I could'nt tell you which is better inmy opinion, but for my preference, I like w2k better. I can't stand the fisher price look. That and the fact that Micro§§§§ changed all the standard file access methods w/ xp. When I want to go into My computer, I prefer to just right click on it and choose to explore it. That and the fact that for us enthusiast types, who wants to have to call microsoft every time you decide to redo your configuration or install some upgrades and have to format and fresh install. Don't have to worry about that w/ 2k.

I never really understood the thing about xp... I installed it for a couple of months, and finally returned to win2k. I feel win2k is more stable, and never really figured out how anything could be better for gaming. (not that I would necasarily notice with my matrox g400)

i was surprised to learn that a matrox g400 will apparently play return to castle wolfenstein, win 2k is faster than XP, xp with its "good looks" needs a lot of RAM so doesnt run as fast, id say XP is better for drivers and stability though but i love 2k!
