I've got a customer on broadband using Win2k, not sure of the SP's on it but anyway, he can't get some pages. Like msn, microsoft, ebay, kfor, and some he can like Yahoo.

It's not running through a proxy, set up for server assigned dhcp, and it does the same thing with Netscape and opera. IE5.5 128bit is what's on it right now.

I'ts boggling me. Anyone know WTF is going on with it?

I'm starting to think it's the nic, but I don't know.

It sounds like the DNS changing Trojan Qhosts.

If you have a file called "hosts" in C:\WINDOWS\Help\ , delete it, that might be enough.
Alternatively, for a cleaner fix. Run this program: http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/trojan.qhosts.removal.tool.html

and make sure you patch windows aswell.

I had similar issue with win2k but it was on a domain and all i did was add local users to the admin group so they would have access to secure web sites.
