Hey guys,

I had a quick Q about cables for some SATA harddrives im getting. Ill have a 250 GB WD SATA 300 HD and a 74gb Raptor (SATA 150) coming and was wondering if anyone could verify that a SATA 300 cable is indeed backwards compatiable with a SATA 150 drive. Yeah, its a noob question, but im used to IDE :)

Also, im looking at the ASUS P5W DH Deluxe motherboard and am wondering if anyone who has it can verify that the contents of "2 x ASUS EZ-Backup SATA cables" means that they are regular harddrive SATA cables, or if they are something else and I need to buy a couple to go with my new harddrives and mobo? Heres a pic of the ones it includes, I can't tell if they are for something else or not.. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ShowImage.asp?Image=13%2D131%2D025%2D02%2Ejpg%2C13 %2D131%2D025%2D03%2Ejpg%2C13%2D131%2D025%2D04%2Ejp g%2C13%2D131%2D025%2D05%2Ejpg%2C13%2D131%2D025%2D0 6%2Ejpg%2C13%2D131%2D025%2D07%2Ejpg%2C13%2D131%2D0 25%2D08%2Ejpg&CurImage=13%2D131%2D025%2D04%2Ejpg&Description=ASUS+P5W+DH+DELUXE%2FWIFI%2DAP++Socket +T+%28LGA+775%29+Intel+975X+ATX+Intel+Motherboard+ %2D+Retail

Thanks for any reply!

Those orange EZ-backup SATA cables are about twice as wide as the red ones that (also) come with P5DWH. I used them to connect my WD Raptor (a SATA150 drive) to the mobo. Working fine so far...

is there actually a difference besides some thicker gauge wire?

i mean the connections are identical, so the wire gauge and possibly sheilding is the only thing that can be changed. so im gonna go ahead and say yes they would be backwards compatible
