My friend brought his computer over and asked me to make it faster for him. I said alright and went to work. I downloaded 4-in-1... he didn't even know what they were and didn't have em installed. I downloaded and installed Dets, I oc'ed his Ti200 to 240/540, fixed his vid settings, put 4x antisitropic on (wanted good image quality for games), and the best part... his CPU.

Originally he had temps of 42C @ 1533mhz (stock 1800+). I took off his hsf, lapped it, put some as2 on... (he had a mixtur of tape AND regular silicon!! *ahg* I also dusted his hsf, which was mad dirty. I booted up his comp and boom, 31C temps off the bat on full load. I then acheived a max oc of 1760 @ 38C full load. This wasn't very stable but q3 did work for a while. We decided to back down to 1725 @ 36C max. He was overjoyed ;) 6C less temp and 192mhz faster along w/ all the other tweaks I pulled off.

Now mind you, although he is pretty stoopid hardware wise and driver/tweakage wise, but his case mods are pretty decent. Check it out @ http://www.maximumoc.com/img/hardware/paniks_comp/

Thanks, and I think his proc is a AGKGA? Yeah that sounds right. The heatsink is a SAK-38 w/ a 60mm delta. When he upgrades to an Alpha 8045 I'm sure we can get a stable 1.76ghz and/or maybe more.

Quite possibly with better cooling it will run up to 1.8 Ghz. I say this due to the fact that I knew someone who also had an 1800+ AGKGA but he used a Swiftech MC462 with a DELTA.

At 2.1 volts he achieved 1810 mhz stable (3dmarking, Folding-distriuted net) Which wouldn't be too shabby a goal to go for.

Actually it's not painted, it's a different drive cover. It's aluminum ;)
