In case anyone hasn't seen it yet Guru3D and HardwareOC have released a benchmark utility for the new hit Prey, all you need to run it is the official game or demo.

Guru3D in collaboration with HardwareOC bring you a nice way to benchmark Prey. Prey is one of those games which no matter how much people go on about, you really do think is all hype. Apparently the game was originally conceived in 1995 but is only being released this year due to a range of dramas which have punctuated this game's long development history. I must have missed out on all the early hype because this game definitely did not register on my radar. At best even Prey fans were starting to think the game was another Duke Nukem Forever.

System requirements

* Windows XP 32-bit or 64-bit edition
* DirectX 9.0c
* The latest drivers for your graphics card
* The official Prey game or the Prey demo

Features

* Fixed resolution from 640×480 up to 2048×1536 (in 9 steps)
* HD WideScreen resolutions (1280×768, 1920×1080, 1920×1200) support
* Custom resolution feature.
* Two built-in demo, custom demo function
* Change aspect ratio
* 4 shader level (Low, Medium, High, Ultra)
* Comments
* Change filters (Antialiasing and Anisotropic filtering)
* Boost graphics option (20 % performance impact)
* Support command line parameters (batch benchmarking)

I really like these kinda game benchmarks, it's good for testing different drivers, tweaks and what not. :)

Hope we'll see more of these in future. :D

I downloaded the demo from fileplanet and the benchmark tool but can't get it run with the demo. I get an error message saying I have to have the retail version of the game...:mad: :confused:

This is my result under same conditions as Benjamin's. Once again my small tweaks and drivers shows a "crappier" system can also run quite fine if you tweak it a little. I didn't expect my crappy Sandy + 6800GT to get such result. :D

OK, I have the full retail version of this game now and its a great unique Sci-Fi game ! :woot:

Some results from my system, which is in my signature. I ran the tests with my usual background processes which I have when gaming to get an idea of how well it performs in "Real world" conditions. :fact:

I don't know why, but the benchmark does not pick up the correct CPU clocks for the following two. This is version 1.0 of the benchmark tool.

Another one to see if it can cut it at lowest res and no eye candy.

How does Prey measure up against the Xbox 360 version. I currently have it for Xbox 360 and it looks sweet.

I've played the PC demo and the 360 demo off marketplace................unless the marketplace demo for 360 had cripped graphics compared to PC I say the PC version looks much better. The textures look basically the same but the PC versions AF and AA go a LONG way. Especially the fact that the glow in the 360 demo looked "off".

I also thought that the 360 version had a very strange fisheye effect on my wide HDTV. Something I didn't experience on the pc.

the lack of AA/AF is always the reason why i avoid consoles. especially the 360 - a next gen console with almost no AA? no thanks
