I need a new set of surround speakers for my compy.......
I have some old 5.1 speakers that the satellites are starting to die:nono:
My sound card is an X-Fi xtreme music.
I would also like to be able to use the optical out on my xbox and get 5.1 with that.
So I need a setup that has the optical input, and be able to connect to my X-Fi.

This will work, right? I can use the spdif on my x-fi to connect and get 5.1 in games, correct? I have never used spdif if you havn't guessed.......

that should work, but the specs of the speakers are pretty crappy. poor frequency response and high thd.
id get something else if i were you
if you want simplicity, look at the z-5500 or the klipsche 5.1 setup.
do the Z-5500's have optical in?

they will deffiently be loud, i can tell you that. i have the 2.1 equavalent of them, the z-2300. and the sub can do some really good shaking of the house. and its only 8" the z-5500 sub is 10" and more refined.
is it better to use the digital input, or the 3 1/8" jacks for audio from my X-Fi?

im using the 5500s with the hda x-plosion via optical
if you have the digital setup it would be crazy not to use it.
anybody know where to get a descent price on shipping?
Newegg charges $48 shippings :(
I'm going to order the speakers, toslink, and digital coax cables.......
Do certain cables work better then others?
All I see are disagreements about what is good :(
