should I get it? I cannot find the 36gb 16mb model yet. wd havent released it yet....

would it be best to get 2x 36gb 8mb models and raid them or get 1 74gb 16mb cache model

74gb 20k rpm 16mb combined if raided but i'll lack NCQ

whats the estimated read on the 16mb 74gb raptor?
is it worth spending the money on the upgrade? would i really notice a difference in speed? worth having 2 of these in raid? 50% faster than jus one 74gb raptor?

I did a read test using sandra '07 and I got this

Dude that upgrade will speed things up a little bit for you but ultimately no one can tell you if it worth it. However more often then not, if you have to ask. Then it probably isn't.

Have you ever owned a Raptor? If not, get one. Only those who have owned 'em know what they feel like. :) I own 2 of these in RAID0. It's fast. Real fast.

the new segates are pretty fast not quite as fast as a raptor but close, more bang for the buck

the .10's i think (by an HDtach i saw recently) were at all points faster than the old 74GB raptor on sequential read

raptor had faster access time of course

but that was all it had

that is correct .10 I just ot a 320 gig one at newegg like a hundred bucks, just did not see the value in getting a Raptor

depends on what you use your pc for, i couldnt really tell the difference with the 74gbs in raid or on their own, mind you im not into heavy video encoding.
Just the web browsing / watching fiilms etc.

I got two raid 0ed 74 gig raptors and I loved switching to that. It doesnt give ANY noticable boost in games but the OS overall just feels so much smoother. Load times in games get a little better but its hard to notice without a timer in your hands. I loved switching to raid 0 raptors so muhc that I am now getting 4 150gig raptors for raid 5.

I would take a look at this chart and think on that purchase if you want performance, and remember thats a 150 vs a 750, I have seen the 320 version do better, raptors seem to be losing there edge

Thank you guys for your replies
I bit the bullet and brought it
heres the stats
82mb/sec for the drive index. thats exactly 2x faster than my previous drive!!!!  i'm glad I made the purchase. Now one more question  if I get a 2nd one would that give me 162mb/sec for the drive index??
